    Rookie here;
    looking to find a pocket PC program for Driver's Daily Log and Vehicle Inspection Report for Garmin GPS PDA "ique M5" (with Windows Mobil). I also want to get live Traffic/Road Conditions information & Weather? I don't know if there is such a thing as a Commercial Navigation Mapping System, or, map updates for Commercial Truck routes?

    Would someone have recommendations for laptop mobil ISP? I've been told that cellular cards are a bust in the southern US. Someone suggested Satellite service? I want to surf from the passenger seat, when possible.

    I just got my paper today and found that the job I was counting on will not be available until July. Any comments about Covenant Transport?

    US Army vet also seeking honest advice to get to work soon, I'm just weeks from eviction.

    Thanks and safe trucking to all.

    Hi,

    Not sure if this is along the same lines, and someone correct me if I am wrong, but could you possibly make an electronic log book using a spreadsheet program such as Excel, fill in the data, and create a line graph with different points on it? Another option would be to use a database like Microsoft Access and create a report that spits out a bar graph with your log on it. The only bad thing I see with Microsoft Access is that Microsoft only bundles Access with Office Professional. You don't get it with Office Standard. The Excel would be pretty easy to create a graph with, and I think you could create up to like 256 tabs or (sheets, if you will). You could make each tab its own day. Just a suggestion.

    It is easier to buy one called Drivers Daily Log that is already approved by the DOT.

    That's true too. Most people would want one that is already approved by the DOT. Nothing like showing the DOT your electronic log in an Excel spreadsheet and they spend 10-15 minutes or more questioning you on them.

    The DOT does not have a formal approval process for electronic logbooks.

    DDL is the greatest!! Have not been questioned about my log since starting to use it in 2001. GREAT PROGRAM for o/o you can keep all your tax info in it. Used it in 2004 to do all my taxes and had a handle on my expenses for the first time in 20 years.
