iPhone,period!
Long gone are the days of #2 pencils an Big Chief tablets an a pocket full of dimes.
The GPS wars are on,everybody that is anybody says theirs is "THE"
I have both of the current leaders offerings (Garmin/Rand Mc.)
Outside of the ever faulty(yet progressing fluff) my phone destroys them both
when it comes to "current accuracy"
Smarter then what your working with is the key to many things of this world. -

No the phone will not replace you the driver
Reading road signs is not some gadgets responsibility.
Best I understand iphones dont take CDL Driving Tests

my phone is excellent at navigation but i dont want to tie my phone up with helping me getting around when i may need it for calls

I currently have the Rand-McNally 710 and enjoy it. It takes some getting use to but so far I am pleased. Is it the best one out there, I don't know but I enjoy the features of it and it is by the same company that does the atlas that we all use.
I also use my iPhone when the street doesn't come up on the gps. I find this is usually because the gps doesn't agree with the customer on which town they are in.
Again it is a tool and you still need to check the route given to the map.
Ericew2108 and Mark Kling Thank this. -
2nd for the Rand McNally, though in fairness it's the only one I've used. (other then the car one in my pickup)
Mark Kling Thanks this. -

the problem with car gps is they will route you onto streets that are not legal, don't have load capacity and try and put you under bridges without clearance.
Better to use a paper and pencil and atlas than a car gps.
Try and explain to your company why you're stuck under a 13-4 bridge or the officer as to why you're on a road that isn't rated to hold 80,000.
I use the Rand McNalley and it's been great. -
Rand McNally! Anything else is just a toy!!!!!!!!!
American Truckerew2108, Mark Kling and Emulsified Thank this.
