I have one called "rainy days" which shows the USA map with radar showing obviously, were rain is falling. I find it most handy when I want to hit the blue beacon. But first I'll check the app to see if its raining, or may be, 300 miles ahead of me.

Truckster. It's about $4 but replaces the truckstop books that are about the same price and no need to buy a new book every year or so. It list truckstops, rest areas, Wal-marts, weigh stations, etc. by state and highway.

I agree with Pfuse. Truck & Travel has tons of useful info about what's around you and ahead. You don't even need to have an active data connection to use it. And if you see something that's incorrect about whatever information such as services at a stop or the location of CAT scales, just hit the update button and email Adam, the developer. He's very nice and takes user requests for new features seriously. I don't work for him, just use the app every day.

I also like WeatherBug Pro. It'll give a 5 day forecast for any city, active radar, satellite views,, or just about any weather related info you need. It'll even alert you when there are weather alerts from the National Weather Service for the area you're in or a saved location.

Definitely get Google Maps. It has great directions (although not truck specific, so be aware and use your head). Truck & Travel above also has low bridges listed so use the two in conjunction. Google Maps also let's me see a satellite imagery of wherever I'm going too. This has really helped out when the truck entrance isn't obvious from the street. Most images are a couple years old, so newer places may appear differently as they actually are.
