He does not have a laptop and is looking to move away from the GPS I introduced him to (AT&T Navigator) that is on the cell phone he is using because AT&T Navigator is not geared towards trucks.

I have been looking at the threads here that have recommendations for GPS systems that are geared for truckers and it looks like Garmin seems to have good recommendations on here and elsewhere, however, the newest thread I could find for this had its last post in 2008. I am looking at the Garmin dezl 560LMT, the Garmin dezl 560LT, the Garmin nuvi 465LMT and the Garmin nuvi 465T. I am thinking that the 2 dezl's look the best because they also have the features of IFTA fuel logging capability, HOS violation warnings, exit services, customizable main menu and external video input for backup cameras but was wondering if anyone on here has any experience and/or recommendations on these 4 models. Keep in mind that my husband is a company driver on eLogs and he drives a flatbed so I am not sure how much he would need the extra features I listed that the dezl's have over what the nuvi's have.

I have been able to find the dezl 560LMT for $427.96, the dezl 560LT for $379.51, the nuvi 465T for $249 and the nuvi 465LMT for $299.99.

I have all of the models that you mention. If you are leaning toward the Garmin brand then I would recommend that you go with one of the two 560 versions and not the 465 at this point. The screen is bigger, it is louder, and there are many new truck tools that you mentioned which are not on the 465.

I would recommend the Garmin 560 models.

The LT model has Life Time traffic reporting.
The LMT model has both Life Time traffic and Map updates.

I have one. It works well, easy to use, has some good features.

When it is first charged and turned on, run all the updates and register the unit.

For my son ,I got the rand mcnally 500 from dieselboss for $350,it comes with a cool pen that lights up the paper you are writing on when you press the button, they also throw in a truck stop guide book. He uses it a lot and likes it,so far. It's the first GPS designed and tested specifically for truckers.

The prices I gave were from BestBuy.com except for the last one (that one was from the Garmin website because I could not find it listed at WalMart or BestBuy). Best Buy in this case has well the "best buy" over WalMart :biggrin_25523:

Thank you for all the good recommendations. It looks like we will be getting the Garmin 560LMT even though it means that it will be a bit longer before I get my phone back LOL.

Garmin dezl 560LT at Best Buy is $379.51 - at WalMart it is $408.98; dezl 560LMT for $427.96 at BestBuy - $439.00 at WalMart. Guess I am dense. Well, guess what neither of the Garmin Nuvi's show up at the Best Buy site any more but the dezl prices for Best Buy and WalMart are correct as of today.
