When looking at reviews for GPS units they all claim to be the best. I have been using my Garmin that is for cars only and before it gets me into trouble, what is the best one out there. Everyone i talk to has said either the Cobra 7750 with the large 7in screen, or one of the Rand McNally units. either one is over $300 so if i am spending that much then i want the best.

Dude, there are many threads on this site about each brand and make/model.
Use the search feature......you will be amazed...

    However....
Here is a site from Diesel Boss that is easy to read and has a nice matrix of features:

    http://www.dieselboss.com/truck_gps_review_features.htm

Each brand has a plus or minus. I own 3 of the Rand units and couldn't be more
pleased with service/support and ease of use. Some people have had bad experiences with them. I am not sure why.....
Garmin is also a really nice unit. Cobra? - I dont know a single person that owns one.

PS. Prices are under $300 with some of the TND units. Unless you need a window obstructing WIDE SCREEN device,
the 5" GPS will be more than sufficient. The 7" can almost be overkill - but to each his own...

    Dieselboss and scatruck Thank this.

I really like the features of the new Garmin Dezl. I checked one out a couple of months ago. And the POI truck stop file is HUGE.

But you're going to have to compare with other drivers to get a feel of the best brands.

Although I can't see myself buying one. I like the fact that we have a RAND guy in the forum. At least he can take heat for issues. And address those who need help.

Mark Kling and Hanadarko Thank this.

I started out with 6 Tom Toms, have had Garmin and PC Millers. Got my first RAND 710 for my OTR truck and absolutely LOVE it compared to all the others. In the process of switching all of my trucks out to RAND, including my personal car. I love the 7" for my OTR truck as it is mounted on the dash and not in my windshield, but all the rest will be 5" screens.

tom tom has announced it is exiting the GPS market. Buy one at your peril as there will be no support.

I bought the TND 500 last year and it never got me lost but sometimes it wouldn't route me the way I thought it should.

If in doubt, let me know the start/stop and the area in question.

    Thanks,
