I recently acquired a rand mcnally tnd 510. i made a run to cambridge ny, then to corinth, ny. anyways i used to use my gps on my phone (which seems better than my tnd 510) but the 510 wanted me to take county roads with 3 and 4 ton weight limits i have it set to truck with 53' trlr 80000 lbs . all posts i have read say they love it. i was wonderin if it was just the area i was in or if the 510 sucks can anyone give me pointers hints tips please.. i will greatly appreciate it due to the fact i have to go to trumansburg ny tomorrow from akron oh.

I bought a NUVI 465T about a year and a half ago. It has both car and truck modes. Spend the money for a nuvi, they are not cheap, but you get what you pay for when it comes to electronics. Be Safe!

Sounds like you've got something wrong in the setup on it. Also, did you charge it overnight before starting to use it? Whenever I get on a road with a weight restriction, my 510 provides a warning and eventually will tell me it cannot continue providing routing on the road I'm on.

Its an extremely good unit IMO.

Rand was able to confirm a weight restriction of 5 tons on CR-115 around the Tomhannock Reservoir. It has been added.

    Thanks,
    Mark

CC here is one that Rand says is restricted. In Brandon Manitoba, Canada. 18th st. N. This road is connected to Hwy 1 and has a truck stop on it. It sees the truck stop but tells you that it's a restricted route.

Here is a road it can't see. Hwy 69/400 south of Sudbury, ON. It has you floating in the bush a mile from the road. The road has been there for years now, but it can't see it.

Other then the odd things like this, I think it's great.
