After reading every product review I could find, I didn't like what I found about the reliability of the Rand Mcnally and even more so the Cobra. Seems like most everyone was happy with the Garmins. I know from experience that Garmin is pretty rock solid. I bought and love the Garmin 465LMT (truck version with lifetime maps). I would still love to have some of the additional features of the Rand McNally but I will keep the Garmin in case it freezes up.

I here cobra is pretty good, but I like the Rand Mcnally personally.I guess either 1 is just as good minus an option or 2.

I have had two different Garmins and bought them as "Last Years" models. That is to say tehy didn't have the latest updates on them however the seller on Amazon offered an update included in the purchase price. And the price was about half of the "Current" model offered for sale.

My only suggestion outside of that is getting the traffic update in whatever brand you buy. I have had great luck with this as it alerts you to a delay and the approx level of that delay in time. It also of course tells you where the delay is which gives you an opportunity to devert or stay with it depending on your situation. I will say also that the information can be a little misleading because I have gotten to a specific place looking for the delay and it was already gone and my Garmin hadn't updates to show the delay being gone.

Its also been said here that the best gps is a map. I agree with this to an extent but having the added information of speed, distance and other trip data has been very helpful from time to time.

Good Luck in your search. Whatever you buy will quickly become a part of your daily routine.

I use a Garmin 560LMT and if something happened to it I would buy another tomorrow without hesitation.

I've been using the PCMiler GPS's for a couple of years now with little difficulty. No matter which system you choose, having backups helps. My backups are: an older copy of PCMiler's CoPilot Truck for laptops, Microsoft's Streets and Trips, my smartphone, my wife on the internet at home, and the good old Mark #1 Trucker's Atlas.

Needless to say, I don't get lost all that often, but when I DO, hooooo-boy....
