drivers daily log and eclipse are the two flavors that everyone uses.

so yes, there are lots using it.

i use trucklogger. it has the ability to do accounting also.

my laptop has a memory card slot. but you can use any type of usb memory. i' create a backup file once a week and copy to my memory. and sometimes even email the backup file to myself.

as far as printers go. i'm finding that it's best to leave everything unplugged till actually needed. except for my laptop which is OFF but stays plugged in. my satellite radio and printer have gotten to such that they don't turn off anymore with all the power spikes every time the truck is started. LOL

I've got an hp460 printer for the truck and an old epson 1200 scanner too.

Company runs qualcomm, so for me it will be a while before being needed

Drivers Daily Log is a good program, but a stupid rule with their limits.

It is the only software of which I have paid much higher for on tax programs, that limits you to the number of computers it can be on.

If you buy it once, it can only be put on 2 more computers. Then you have to repurchase it.

Dumbest company I have ever worked with on software.

I am being forced by their ignorance to remove them from my computer. If I to buy another computer, which I do every 2 years and it is coming up, I must buy their software again.

Before doing that, I will buy another program and say goodby to a stupid company and their pathetic rule.

    roadmedic,

That's good to know ahead of time.

Eclipse has there little USB GPS connection you can do too for IFTA filing. Maybe that will be a better option.

There was another thread where we discussed this and it was recomended to get theirs since they are a progressive company and understands that you might have to change computers.

Their software is something I am looking at. Just saddens me that I will be losing the entire file from computers since I do not have the previous ones and this one is all that remains.

    Pathetic, just plain pathetic.

I hope everyone leaves them for their stupidity.

when I did call him, he seemed rather "dis-interested" in that he simply said that, "This software sells itself, what do I need to tell you. Read the website."

He just struck me as .... Not a good salesman.

My dealings with him have been less than of quality. I had a problem and he had me contact some guy that consulted and he was a big jerk and a donkey behind.

I thought of just leaving them entirely at that point.

My company WILL NOT accept them.

    I can answer that.

Building a software email module into it would require a setup screen where the driver has to enter his pop3 server info to his mail provider if he uses a program like Outlook or Eudora - and to many drivers have no idea what that means. Alternately they could also build a screen where the driver could enter his email address but still the program would not have to ability to open a web browser enter the login information for whatever Gmail, Yahoo, etc site that the guy may use for email and then create a new mail, then attach the correct log sheet to that email, and then click the send button, etc. There are too many variables to make it bulletproof and the design of Eclipse is all about being bulletproof and simple.

Instead the answer is painlessly simple and universal.

    - You install CutePDF for free.
    - You click "print" for that day's log sheet or a range of days and choose CutePdf from your list of printers and save that sheet to a folder on your hard drive.
    - Blam. Now that it is a pdf you can email it to anyone, anytime regardless of what email program or service you have.

There is also primoPDF, doPDF and half a dozen others like it.

I use doPDF, have spreadsheets and other documents that I don't want edited.

I print to PDF document and email things out. Saves the hassle of whether or not things are compatible with whomever you are sending it to.

    Dieselboss,

Is there an interface to get the state mileages to your IFTA spreadsheet? do it with csv files?
