XM Satellite radio
Is anyone else having trouble with their XM Satellite radio? I am unable to receive any channels, called their tech support and they said they are having trouble.

I have a Lynx, and so far no problems. For some reason, this radio doesn't pull the signal as wwell as every Sirius radio I've had.

Husband has the model where it plugs into the cigarette lighter and used the antenna that came with it and was having problems, he would reset it to a different spot and then get to the other side of the US and it wouldn't pull in the stations. It was getting to be really dissapointing.
They were in Iowa 80 the other day and got larger antenna for it around $59.00 and now it is working great so far. He hasn't been to the east coast again, but in the mountains on 70/80 ect.
He says he hasn't had any problems today with it so far today, coming in clear as bell.

If your XM receiver is built into the truck, chances are the antenna has a split in it. Alot of the antennas are installed under the windshield rubber. Look under and see if you can find the XM wire and see if is split. New ones are $59.00 for the antenna plus installation any any audio shop. XM is very, very specific on the antenna length and any split (even 1") will kill reception

Thanks Bugjuice... Mine was installed at Best Buy but I will trace the wiring back to the radio just to see. I only get one channel, the preview channel. Tech support said THEY are having problems but no on else is complaining. Gonna call them back tomorrow.

If the one [preview] channel is coming in good, then you are wasting time trying to blame your antenna and/or installation because your radio and reception is working fine. your issue is with Sirius/XM and your account. Make sure your account is in good standing and have them send you a new activation signal while your vehicle is in operation and not under cover (like in a shop).
In the last several weeks, sun-spot activity has cause a few minor and very temporary glitches with satellite transmissions on and off, here and there.

UPDATE: I am having to do an update daily now. For some reason my radio doesnt stay programmed so I have to call in and have them send an update every morning. Yes, I know I can do this on the Internet. Went to the Alpine tech forums this morning to see if anyone else is having this problem nd no-one is. Not sure what I am going to do. Sigh!

Drop $45 dollars and get a new receiver or have them replace yours. Your receiver obviously has a bios memory retention issue that I've never seen before. Did you purchase this receiver new or is this some sort of "inherited" receiver? Maybe someone still has "administrative" (old owner) privileges and keeps turning it off. I've heard of one receiver being "active" on more than one account and this should never be able to happen but has.
Bottom line, a new receiver (and new radio ID to replace the old ID) should take care of your issues.
