got to have the smartypants phone. in order to use google maps.

google earth on the pc don't work as gps. it requires internet. AND, and gps module. which i think only one actually works on google. last time i looked into it.

so either way. gots to have a smarty pants phone with internet., or a internet device for the pc.

Today I had to load at a grain elevator that was located in Stickney, KS. Tried entering that into my GPS, nothing. Tried using my smartypants Google maps, nothing. Opened up my atlas, nothing. The one fail-safe, verbal directions, and it was located all by itself in BFE. In western KS, these elevators are the area's skyscrapers. You can see them for miles and miles.

I use Google Maps on my desk top extensively. I just can't believe how bad they are. I have learned that if something doesn't look right with Google, it is probably because it is not right.

They have a huge order to fill here, but they have volunteered to do it, and frankly, I don't think they do it very well. One of the biggest complaints I have are their NSEW screw ups. If I enter an address, (as example, 43251 EAST whatever road, it really pisses me off to have them try to show me 43251 WEST whatever road.)

I've found that Yahoo Maps, while not as up to date as Google, are at least a bit more accurate in finding addresses.

Haha, I looked up Stickney, Ks. Just to see where it was on goole maps. Looks like the entire town of Stickney is one grain elevator. Not sure why your google maps didn't find it, mine did. It said Stickney / Hoisington / Barton County Ks. But yeah, definitely in the sticks. The address google maps gave was 293 NORTHWEST 190 Road. It even had a really good street level image of the elevator itself

My iPad and google maps found it. My cell phone google maps did not, and my Rand GPS did not either. I'm not even a little shocked my GPS didn't find it. Thats par for the course.

i have learned that no gps can find everything. i've got a hand unit. along with the same program and 2 others downloaded on my phone. none of them couild find my destination. it's not even listed on the atlas. it took google nav to find the town and address in indiana to find my pickup.

you can't rely solely on one gps. and you can't rely on the atlas either. you need backups.

google nav has always come through for me. only had two companies that it couldn't find. but at least it could find the street.
one of them is a pickup in nampa, id. that company is located out in the sticks. i've been there 4 times in 15 months with the company.
