I have at home an Alienware machine that retails for over $4000. I got it from a poker player who thought he had a good hand. His wife was fat so I got the computer. Anyway. The thing screams play me. I do not like online games. I am not big on drive and shoot. I loved Mechwarrior and Wing Commander III but they are out dated and the speed of today's computers make them unplayable. What games do you find amusing and why? Remember, I am short, old, and fat. suggestions?

Check out http://www.wurmonline.com It's a sandbox style crafting/mild combat/pvp style MMO. It's kind of like a mideval life simulator, it's hard to explain haha. It's online, but the community is mostly 20+ years old and fairly mature for gamers. If you do decide to continue with the game, PM me and I'll give you some things to get you started. It's a GREAT way to kill time, can play at your own pace, though i think most would consider it boring.

Like the old stuff? Google: Great old games aka:GOG Lots of antique games under $10 (most $5) and updated/modified for modern machines. No spyware, all manuals electronically included.

Master of Orion and Ultimas are my favorites...

If you like RPG try Fallout 3 or Elder Scrolls V. If you like RTS (real time strategy) try Company of Heroes. Turn based strategy try Civilization 5. First person shooters try the Call of Duty games.

I highly recommend Farcry 2, DeusX Human Revolution, and Portal 2. A friend of mine really likes Assassins Creed. I am interested in Skyrim also. Just waiting for the price to go down to get it.

Farcry 2 will test your system. I've got a i7 Ivybridge with 8gig of DDR3 and nVidia 650 with 512mb of DDR5 and I can't run that game maxed. Side note, it is a laptop.

IMO, If your not a big gamer, I would sell the unit. With that money you could buy a new system, laptop for the road or that big screen tv you and the mrs wanted. Xmas is just around the corner. :)

How old is this Alien ware unit? That can make a HUGE difference in value.

Steam is a great site/app. No need to keep track of install cds and if your drive crashes.
