Hi I was wondering if anyone could tell me how exactly to hook up a wire on a caterpillar c15 I know that i should hook it to the wire on the speed sensor that goes to the ecm but where is it best to run that wire from the alternator rpm wire or the crank sensor

Yes it is the first truck I've ever owned it is a 2007 freightliner argosy with the c15 in it unfortunately it was owned by a big company and it is stuck doing 99kph the problems I'm having is that I'm getting left behind by other drivers and as I often get out as one of the last trucks at night its stressing me out trying to keep up with eta's and so on

In my opinion, it would be MUCH safer and even easier to take it to a deal and have then turn thing thing up if they can.. it costs more for sure. but jumpers and other things can fry electronics leading to LOTS of $$$$$ in damage. Turning a truck up via computer is about a 20 minute job if that.

The problem with that is a lot of workshops wont do it because of the laws here and ive noticed that when a inspection is carried out by the rta (road transport authority) the plug into the computervto check what the limiter is set at then they check under the truck to make sure the cog on the back of the gearbox hasn't been tampered with but they never check they wiring from the speed sensor which is where i would like to run a wire from

Ohh... nevermind.. the I didn't see a location. Bottom line is that if you do something to the computer, it can be seen by the ECM data and it will be discovered. If its JUST an inspection that's bad enough.. if its an after accident investigation and especially involving a fatality.. it could mean prison time! Be careful and run your own truck and let everyone else get in trouble. Just my 2 cents.

It does work because a lot of other drivers use this method

A warning to those driving company trucks (including leased)...

Companies have ways of tracking their property. If your rig is set at 62, and they see that you're doing 70 down I-80 across western Utah, then you may be in for a surprise...
