Need some help here. I have an 07 International 9400i. I'm trying to hook up an indicator light to the jake on/off switch so I know when it's on at night without having to take my eyes off the road (or when I leave it on during the day by accident and I'm getting ready to grab some gears, yes an idiot light). My problem is I can't find a 12v supply coming into the switch and don't see any voltage in any of the wires coming out of the switch when it is turned on. Tested this with a test light and a multimeter. I think I'm just being dense about this so I'm asking for help. The switch has a blue, yellow, and 2 gray wires connected to it. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

You don't need an indicator light just need a set of 8" straights you will ALWAYS know when that thing is on haha. Back to the matter at hand start the truck with the dash out, JAKE OFF! turn the Jake on after the truck is running and warm or at least partially warm, rev it up and let off. That will kick your Jake on and activate the switch should anyway try that on all the wires might get something to light up so you can get that light wired in.

P.S. its not a dummy light. It didn't come from the factory so its a god #### it I'm sick of ####### going through the god #### ####### window when I start off from a light...light. I need one too lol

The switch may not have voltage going to it but rather ground a wire or two from the ecm to control the level of the Jakes. It may be wise to go to the international dealer with the serial number and have them print off the setup for the switch to see if you can replace it with another switch with more poles to add a light or have some indicator from the ECM to show it is active.

yep. it's my understanding that trucks are grounded these days. not HOT.

in other words. negative is the power feed and positive is the ground.

my truck has led in the switch. so when it's on. the light is also on. but i haven't torn the switches out to see the wiring.

might see if you can install something like that. i'm sure the led get's it power source the same as the switch itself.

Thanks for the, um, suggestions 379. LOL. The problem is I want to know when I leave the switch on not when the jake is actually working. I is a dash light for this in newer trucks so I know it can be done, just have to figure out where to tap mine in.

P.S. It is a dummy light, that's who's installing it. LMAO

Thanks for the info snowwy. I have 2 switches like that, they light on the end when turned on. I was going to try stealing the trailer auxiliary switch (it's not hooked up to anything) and use it for the jake on/off. Unfortunately the wiring in the connectors is different and I don't want to fry anything while trying to make what should be a simple improvement. Trying to get my hands on a wiring diagram then maybe I can figure it out.

Why they didn't just install that type of switch in the factory boggles my mind. It CAN'T be that much more expensive.

the main power switch for jake is where you would want to hook op a indicator light. find the power wire going to switch and that will show you the other wire that energizes when you turn on switch. splice in to that for a light, but do it right.

Thanks super. The problem is I can't find power coming into the switch. Tried with a test light and a multimeter and found nothing.
