Hello fellow ground pounders. I am currently a local driving in the hiring process of a OTR regional position. Just curious if anyone has used or has any reviews on the DirecTV GenieGo device.
From what I gather, it hooks up to your DVR and WiFi router at home. If you are within your home wifi signal you can download your saved programs directly to a smart phone or tablet or laptop. If you are not in your home wifi signal area, which is where this product would be of great use; if you have wifi signal, and connect to the internet you can download your programs to your tablet on the road. You can even stream live shows as they record. They already have the capability to allow you to watch tv through their internet site but I believe it is of limited channels. So, just wondering if anyone has this product, what do you think about it, what are some pros and cons of it, etc. Thanks everyone.

Depending on how much you are actually planning on watching on this just remember that an hour of streaming from the GenieGo will use about half a gigabyte of bandwidth.

Also you need have a strong enough home upload speed which will need to be around 1mbit and no one at home can be using it.

If you are on an unlimited plan that is not an issue. But since a lot of people are on verizon and some don't have unlimited plans this can be a bigger issue. So if you have larger plan you might be able to get away with it. But if you only have like a 2.5GB plan this isn't a very good option
