I had XM satellite but is looking for another radio source hopefully cheaper. I've heard of Spotify and Pandora. I guess I'm looking for something with variety, almost commercial free and is generally good for long distance driving like a trucker would have. Any suggestions?

Podcasts and a lot of downloaded music and such is about the only other option. You need to make use of broadband when you get access to quality service and download as much as you can. Don't expect quality cellular internet in more remote areas and expect to maybe pay data overages if you use your phone exclusively for downloads and streaming.

XM/Sirius can be annoying on some of the channels that really don't have a huge selection of music (listening to same songs multiple times each day), but maybe broaden your interests into talk radio or other music genres. Satellite radio still beats constantly trying to find a descent FM station that you can only hold an hour or two.

If you can't afford Sirius you need to be looking for a better job! Nothing is better than satellite!

I dumped Sirius when I got tired of paying the bill. I use overdrive app and download books from my library. It's a nice change from local radio.

"I can't afford the $10/month for satellite radio" ... but they can afford $40/month in data overage charges. They can afford $30/month in arcade games. They can afford to eat at the $12 buffet 8 times a month. They can afford a dozen $3 energy/coffee drinks They can afford $45 for some latest Xbox game

SiriusXM subscriber since 2004 and not giving it up. I think I pay something like $15 a month because of the radio I have, the Lynx, and I get all the channels of both Sirius and XM plus extra channels that aren't on the other radios. It's totally worth it with all of the choices I have on it. The only complaint I have is no actual Weather Channel.

You'll eat up your data if you use your phone for any online streaming. Some carriers don't have a big data coverage

Can't think of anything that beats Sirius/XM quite frankly. Perfectly willing to pay the monthly fee.
