Audible.com has come out with a download audio books and burn them to a cd, or put them on an mp3 player. They are running a special price right now, I forgot how much. But we know how much the selection of audioadventures is, and you can get brand new books, for example I got one that came out this month UNABRIDGED, for $22. The same price as buying the hardback. I don't feel like throwing in all the links but enough of the info is in this post.

I have over 200 audiobooks. They are on cd's in mp3 format, and backed up on the computer.

I primarily listen to them and the XM Radio. CB is only on when in heavy traffic, bad weather or running with other people.

I just bought and listened to "Happy Endings - tales of a meaty breasted zilch" By Jim Norton, who is a popular comedian an a member of the Opie and Anthony radio show, heard on some CBS stations and XM satellite radio.

It was hilarious, but NOT for people easily offended or people who do not like harsh language or risky topics, it was read by Jim Norton, which put a familiar twist on the book.

I am a member of the public library, and can take out books on cassette or CD and have them for 3 weeks. I find this is the most cost effective way to 'read books' while I am on the road. I can renew online if need be. Its worth investigating!

Etosha has the right idea. Most public libraries have large selections of audio books for elderly and the blind. Ours lets you keep them for 30 days. Never was a big mystery reader but a lot of them are really good-especially if the reader has a voice like Orsen Welles or any of the great actors. They are a good way to stay wide awake too.:biggrin_2554:
