I just discovered this app. I have Dish TV at my home so I'm automatically signed up for an account. My question is,has anyone used this app to watch TV in your truck ? If so,how did you make the connection between the phone and TV ?

I can watch tv on my tablet via verizon jetpack but I chose not to. I watch tv on my tv via ota antenna, I do use the app all the time to record shows on the dvr. Is really a great app, very impressed with its functionality.

You'd need a hopper with sling box on your home side connected to the internet. I suppose if you had a smart tv on your truck, you could use a mirroring app on your phone to project it to the tv.

you need a roku to stream your tablet or phone to your tv. i don't think smart tv's have the capability of streaming from phone.

at least, my vizio don't and i just bought the thing.

you also need android operating system 4.4 or higher.

you can do the google chromecast also. it requires a phone or tablet or the google chrome browser on your computer to stream to your tv. and is limited in apps. whereas, the roku has 1500 app channels. and simply requires turning on the mirror built into the operating system.

If you have a laptop or tablet you can connect to your TV with either the HDMI or monitor out port. It's the same as connecting a desk top monitor to your laptop. As soon as you do the laptop or tablet display will be disabled and it will show up on the TV.

That's what I do when I'm home. I have a large desktop monitor hooked to my laptop instead of the smaller screen.

I have directTv and also have the NBC,CBS,ABC apps on my phone as well as the directTv app

I have an Iphone and you can buy an HDMI adapter that plugs in like a charger, then the charger and HDMI plug in to that
All will stream to my tv except abc has some restrictive program therefore I need to use my cell or ipad for that network
I have unlimited data on my cell contract and it costs me nothing, I use my verizon internet box for my ipad but that has 10G data

If you don't have a truly unlimited data plan be carefeul, you can burn through your Gigs pretty fast

Just make sure you find out what type of connections are available on your TV. If you don't know what your looking at take a pic with your phone and show the 15 year old expert at Best Buy

on the dish app, as long as your sat box has a sling adapter or hopper, and is connected to the internet with a good enough speed, then when you use the dish app on your phone or tablet, it is just using the internet to send out whatever you normally can watch just as if you were at home, either live tv, or anything that is recorded on the DVR. You can also set up recordings and such, it basically is just like you were controlling your sat box from home.... if you use wifi that will save on some data usage, which can accumulate quickly if you watch things in HD.... hope that helps.
