Chances are the factory stereo is better than the after market.

You can buy adapter at dealer for most radios, so you wont have to cut any wires.
-
that would be odd considering most factory stuff isn't that great but hey I guess you never know, I was probably going to put in a flip out screen type radio and replace the speakers, since speakers are the easiest thing to change.

The difference between the KW factory stereo and the flip out one you want to install is the ruggedness. The aftermarket radios just do not hold up to the truck environment, the little vibrations all day long tear them up, I give the flip out screen 6 to 8 months to live before it has problems. If you insist on replacing the head unit, get a normal single DIN model, no bells and whistles, it will last much longer. The speakers would be a much better upgrade for the money and effort, they will make a world of difference.
Yes, you can cut the wires but the radio harness from the dealer will make a better and easier install. -
ok thanks I was looking at probably upgrading the speakers as well since they really make most of the difference and probably much easier since it's simple two wires.. probably the flip out screen would be a bit much for a truck. do you know what size speakers are in the truck I am thinking probably 6 1/2 but not positive

I called a KW dealer and gave them the Vin and when I asked about speakers he could only find something listed for 3.5 cones but that doesn't sound right can anyone else confirm this or are they more like 6.5 or 6x9
