ANYONE ever done on their personal verhicles.

i just bought a 14 hyundai accent. it's just a standard am/fm/cd radio with bluetooth and steering wheel controls.

i beleive dot has passed regulation now for all future cars to come standard equipped with backup camers. don't know the start year. so i can see this feature being a valuable add on when it comes time to sell the car.

i was originally looking at autozone with their backup camera. it's a standard sized camera that needs to have a hole drilled into the back of the car. and wired to a screen that is suction cupped to the windshield. we all know how suctions cups hold out. this dude is also wired into some wire of the transmission. not exactly what i want since my car is brand new 5 months ago. cost was $130.

best buy has a radio. on sale right now for $530. kensington, complete with HD radio, bluetooth, garmins gps sfotware, 6.1 inch screen. all the features. and the camera can plug into the radio as the radio has a veiw screen. can also watch movies or plug a bigger screen into radio for movies. they also sell a camera. that has a bracket which would mount it to the license plate. and its tiny compared to autozone. and is wired to the reverse lights instead of transmission. cost is $80.

total package with all wire kits needed including steering wheel controls and installation would be $1100 with tax.

i'm kind of wondering if there is a radio by chance, that is android powered so to speak. that i could use my copilot gps instead of the included garmin software in the kensington.

i almost bought the system and had the wires ordered for next week installation. but i decided to come home and see if i couldn't find anything cheaper.

have any of you done something like mentioned to your personal vehicles. if so, what system? and is there anything android powered.

like i stated, with the new dot regulation. this could be a very valuable addon that everyone will want when it comes time to sell the car. i'm hoping to figure something out for maybe a cheaper price. but lotsa ideas are floating around and i haven't a clue as to what type of radio to even google for to see what other options might be out there.

my only complaint is having to buy the xm receiver to mount with the radio. why can't they sell them already built in. like they do with brand new cars. or is there a receiver already that i'm being lied to just to buy another receiver. and they aren't actually built in like i'm being told
