I have the same box,I have 4ga wire and only used one connection point.
The thing works great, BUT ! It has caused massive noise on my CB and AM Radio bands Not sure if I can get enough filters to suppress all the static .........
If you forget and leave it on you will kill your batteries in less then 48 hrs. -

This is a very informative thread on installing an inverter.Pur48Ted and Working Class Patriot Thank this. -
i have the 2550 watt inverter and i used the 4ga. kit you buy in the T/S with the inline fuse. works great.

Thanks guys and yes I did read the thread but do not recall them saying which guage wire that they used.Hey tater so you only hooked up one negative and one positive and you said it works great. So one more question do I need to use an inline fuse or no.I have never used one this big before I always used a 800 watt inverter but never used an inline fuse with it,or is it more of a safety feature.
-
Yes one ground and definitely use the fuse.
I have mine mounted to the face of the lower bunk, all the wire/fuse etc is under the bed out of sight.I also used aftermarket bolts with locking nuts for the mounting.
I may have to run the second ground to chill some of the noise ?
RLIGHT276 Thanks this. -

Hey tater the inverter that I have is the cobra CPI 2550 WL.On the front there are 2 positive hook ups and 2 negative hook ups,Do I use both for the positive and both for the negative and do I hook them both to the same battery or do I need to hook one positive and one negative,to one battery and the other positive and negative cable to another battery. And should I use an inline fuse on both the power cables,or can I run 1 for both of the power wires. Thanks for the help so far.
