Just curious, do any of you who use Verizon or AT&T also use their data services to surf the net, send email, etc?

I have been with several carriers... I've had AT&T, they were good... until they went all digital. Then I had dead spots everywhere I needed the phone. From there we went to Verizon. Verizon is the best I've had. They get service most everywhere. Sprint is ok, uses part of the Verizon network- notice "part of the verizon network"... so not as many towers as verizon.
T-mobile appears to be good. My cousin has T-mobile and has only lost signal in the high mountains. We were fishing up at the lake, and he gets a phone call. My signal had dropped long before we got there!

Verizon seems to be a little faster with the data in comparison with the rest. I haven't been with AT&T for a while, but it was ok too.

Note: If you go out of the country you don't want verizon or sprint. They use CDMA networks which is really only here in the US.

I was with AT&T for years, often had lotsa bars, but yet no service! Whenever I had no service and some one else did, I always asked, and they usually said Verizon, so I switched and have been much happier.

I'm not a fan of T-Mobile. I will be switching once my contract is up as they can't even get blanket coverage over Phoenix, much less coverage ont he road. I constantly get drops between Flagstaff, Albuquerque, and Denver. I have a Sprint aircard for my computer also, and I'm not sure that they are really any better through those areas, I'm honestly not sure who to go with, but I may get AT&T unless Sprint gets the iPhone in the lineup before next May.

I have Alltel, and they were recently purchased by Verizon. Verizon customers made out like a bandit on this deal. All Alltel customers got was crappy customer service. But, I will stick them for now and see how it goes.

I wouldn't touch AT&T with a ten foot stick. Not after the crap service I got with them a few years ago.

Nextel and Sprint are the same thing... Had Sprint for 1 week years ago, they ticked me off so I sent them packing. The phone number I was assigned (before porting) anybody local that dialed my number was forced to dial the area code as well. UGHHHHHHHH I had to explain it to about 100 people before I decided enough was enough. But hey, that's been ten years ago by now, so I'm sure its a non issue these days.

I had Tmobile for about ten years. Don't really have much bad to say about them at all.

NauticalStar, I would research air cards hand in hand with cell phone service. Find a balance between the two.

When I was OTR, I was a 95% east coast runner. I had AT&T with a Data Card and had very few places I couldn't get a signal.

My west coast were Chicago to LA and never had a dead spot on the trips.

I've been with Altell since the mid '90's, until the Verizon buyout. As long as they stay the same or get better, I'll stay. The last two years, I've had a smart phone, sending emails, texts, and pics, and never had an issue. Searched the web as well. But, a lot of sites aren't exactly mobile browser friendly. Which, I never blamed that on the wireless company.

I have ATT with both phone and a wireless card. For the phone, I very seldom have problems with except for in Nebraska for some reason, if I'm not on the interstate.

The wireless card is a whole nudder story. If in big cities, have pretty good service with the 3g network. Out of the cities tho......dial up speed at best and if you get off the interstates.......:biggrin_25510:
