the key to it is find the power source and dis-connect it, fuse in fusebox or the 'pwr' cable on the big black box. tinfoil, alum!!!!!?????? if a dot sees that on ur qc dome , ur in trouble. or if u unplug at the dome, once again noticeable. log auditor in my safety dept turned me on to these tricks.....and we have one the most strict safety depts of the co's i've worked for.

july 2006.
stretched out over 8 years. the tricks mentioned may not work anymore. technology, it's always changing. -
I was like 20 minutes away from a truck stop, and I needed a shower badly, it was a 100* all day long, and lowering, raising landing gear, opening doors, sliding tandems, had my sweating like crazy, even for a girl I was sweating a lot.
but I was gonna be darned if I was gonna miss my shower. So I stopped went off duty, and unplugged the power cord from the QC...and kept driving. now they didn't know at first. but a few months later I got audited on my logs. They noticed the jump from where I stopped and went off duty to where I ended up on sleeper birth and the difference was like 22 miles.
They asked me to account for it and I played stupid like, I don't know what you're talking about. They said since I couldn't account for it, it was a 14 hr rule violation, but all I got was a warning.
Now, that's all fine and dandy, you can do that once in a while and get away with it. But the tradeoff is, if you do it on a week that you get popped for a DOT inspection Level 3 or higher...they won't miss it and you're going to pay a nice hefty fine.
Had I known that, I wouldn't have done what I did. Not worth it. -
Here is the simple way to make our point to the Qualcom loveing companies. Run %100 percent legal and show them how much they should appreciate us. We would be out of hours in a pinch each day. Log on duty not driving when at the shipper and reciever etc etc. We would not even have enough time to put in some decent miles. They would be lucky to get 200 miles out of us. Let the clock munch up all the time! If every driver did that (logged %100 legal) for even 72 hours straight it would put the Qualcom loving companies in a real bind. I mean it would put the hurt on the shippers and the recievers too.
Sometimes that is what you have to do to get your point across. Run the precious 14 hours without question totally legal! Thats right! If you are at the shipper waiting and dont want to go to sleep....then log on duty not driving. Everytime you are awake waiting for a load, waiting to be unloaded or loaded....make it on duty not driving!!
Lets see how much they love their Qualcom loving nitpickering now lol.scottied67 Thanks this. -
This is as easy as 123...1. unhook the wires from the black box "All the wires." 2. Use a torqx drive to open the battery compartment on the black box.Remove the Battery.3 Enjoy your stealth.***** Attention: please read: Just Because you do all this will not mean that they can't tell that you have moved. When you hook all the wires back. The box will start talking to the truck. It will detect the mileage traveled. Some companies this is considered Modifying the equipment. This will result in being terminated.
