Second thoughts on CRST?

So, I've been working the CRST angle since February 18. It was only just yesterday that they completed my motor vehicle record check and let me know that I'm ready for hiring.

However; the more I've waited on CRST, the more I've read about them. The more reading I've done, the more second thoughts I've had. I think some anxiety is normal.. its come with every new job I've ever had; but a lot of the things I'm reading are bad.. really bad.

I'm torn.

A lot of jobs are what you make them, or at least what you get out of them.. namely, a paycheck. I also know that all companies have their positives and their negatives. I can't help but wonder though, if I take this job, will I become one of those drivers who have ended up in worse shape than when they started all because they thought they could make it work (more appropriately known as 'that guy').

At any rate, I'm far from giving up. Today I submitted an application for May Trucking, though I'd have to commute from Carlsbad, California to Phoenix, Arizona. Yesterday, I applied for FFE. I've been trying to get hold of a division manager over at Squire Fontana but it's been a bust so far.

Hopefully something interesting will happen in the next couple of days. I'll be waiting with baited breath.

Squire / Knight Transportation:NO-GO (was told that I didn't have enough OTR experience for them to work with. Tim Pollock is very polite and friendly.)
FFE Transportation: NO-GO (wasn't given a reason aside from 'there's nothing we can do.)

May Trucking: NO-GO (informed me that I am not in their hiring area. I will say that they have outstanding customer service and are the most polite I've spoken with. They called me!)

Marten Transport: NO-GO (unable to get application approved; needed a minimum of one year OTR experience)

if you go to their school, i believe you are tied to them for 6 mo. one of thier trainees told me she was making 18 cents per mi until she paid for school
That's correct, except it's an eight month contract. You also start at $.22 per mile split. It's a shame that they couldn't just put me through a refresher course being that I'm already a driver, but I guess that's how they make their money.
