I have been out of trucking for 17 months. I am now trying to decide who to go back with. I like the roehl deal 7/7 but I dont think the recruiter is honest about the miles. Any drivers got the skinney on what freight is really like with roehl ?

Roehl is ok. It's no different than any other company out there as far as miles. Sometimes the miles will be excellent and sometimes average. The one thing that sticks out about roehl is that they're a proven good company. If i were you I would take the job if offered and run with it. There are not to many good companies out there anymore! ADVICE FROM PRIMO

I run for Roehl, and know quite a few drivers who run the 7/7 and love it! I run 14/7 and they have been pretty good to me. I have been here for a few months. Where is your orientation?

Orientation is in Ellenwood, GA I live not to far from there. This is in my mind, a big plus and a determining factor in going with Roehl.

Since you live close to Ellenwood, that would make any program 14/7; 7/7 easier. I park at the Darlington drop yard, and live in North Carolina. I drive about 100 miles to get to the truck, but it is worth it having 7 straight days off. I used to drive back in the late 90's, and just got back into it, and Roehl offered the best trainning, and without question the best home time. Bare in mind, always keep an open mind, it is a wierd business. I was supposed to be home lst Friday, but got home on Monday. But, I still got my 7 days off. Good luck to you.

Yea I understand they can't really turn down freight to get you home on schedule every time. To me, thats a nobrainer. I expect there to be ocassions where I will be a day or two late getting home. I have chosen the 7/7 I wonder how the other driver ( me at times I suppose ) deals with the truck getting back a day or 2 late ? What r u avg with miles every week ? Recruiter told me 2700 avg. Last time I was driving otr I seldom got that many mi a wk.

I have heard the 7/7 drivers that live in Ellenwood area get home pretty regularly. My understanding if you get home late, then the other person goes out late. I currently have my own truck and when I pair up with someone else, then it works that way as well. Ellenwood is a pretty main lane, being out of Darlington, not so much. But, when you are paired with someone you get to work the schedule the way it is set up. As far as miles, I was told 2400 - 2600. I averaged 2600 for the first two weeks I was out. In the days I was out, I sat for 4 hrs, because the appt got screwed up, otherwise, very steady.

Sloupr and Fulchoak I have a couple questions for you about Roehl if you don't mind. I was looking to join the 14on /7 off fleet out of Darlington and was wondering what kind of miles everyone was getting and what lanes do you usally run? Thank you in advance for your help.

I ran the 14/7 out of Darlington. I would launch out on a Wed, and then return 14 days, usually on a Tuesday afternoon or Wed am. I can say it depends on the Fleet Mgr you have. You will have two. I know with the one I had, that one was great would run 3000 miles a week without breaking a sweat. The other one, was more of a newbie and thought he knew everything. When he was on I would ave around 2300. If you make your deliveries on time and look good, they will run you. I ave 2700 a week, between the two. The lanes we ran, NE US! Anywhere from NY city to MN to Dallas, TX to Florida. I only went to NY city a few times and Canada a few times. Extra pay to go to each. They are a good company and a great place to get your experience. I am no longer with them, as I have gotten the job I was looking to get, running containers. Home every weekend, and a few nights during the week. Helps to live near the port. I can tell you Roehl has the best home time around, depending on where you live. For me, I had no traffic lanes that ran by where I lived. So being home for 7 days, was much better than being home for only 34 hrs. That is what a lot of companies call your "home time". Ave is 7 days out 34 hrs at home. Does not compare to 14 days out 7 at home. Downside, you slip seat, (share a truck). To me it is worth it. Good luck!

I am hoping to get back on the road after family issues forced off the road several years ago. I have spoken with drivers and recruiter from Roehl and they seem to have a positive track record. I am looking forward to working for them!!!

I leave for Georgia on June 5th to start for Roehl. I just grad in Ct from NETTTS. Never been in this industry but love to drive. I am looking for some advise on what to expect from Roehl an how is there training. I chose them out of the others because of there rep. Any help to this new guy would be apreciated.
