Hey y'all. I'm posting this for opinions or insight on some things. Currently I'm unemployed from one of the top grocery stores in the world due to shoulder injury. Waiting on workers comp treatment. But long story short, I won't be able to work there anymore due to the injury because the work is VERY intense and has a lot of frequent and heavy overhead lifting. So I've decided to pursue a career in truck driving. After months of research I have decided on going with Roehl and go through their schooling. But I'm not sure how much money I need to bring for lodging and food etc. Any advice is very welcome.

I was reading a posting that one school will want you to lift a wooden box off the floor to a counter and then lift it over your head. If your shoulder injury prevents you from doing this you might want ask if they are going to test your physical ability.

I should be able to do that. It's the repetitive over head lifting of heavy stuff, such as cases containing 6 gallons of bleach lol

to answer your quistion on how much money you need i would take 1200 just to be on the safe side but ive always heard that the company pays for the room you stay in untill you pass oreintation and go with a trainer

That's good info. Thanks hilling. I'm on a fixed income right now and im just tryin to figure out how much money I need to have set aside. 1200 seems like a lot for food and miscellaneous stuff for 3 weeks of school.

when i was in school i went through 1500 just on food but if you on a budget go to your locol surplus store the have meal rations that are only 1.49 per meal but its the same as what the milatary eats i like them they seem to be pretty good

Wow that's cheap. Surplus store closest to me sells those M.R.E.s for another 5 per meal.

My in laws just finished up with the Swift school! There the school costs had the motel rolled into the total package so all they were out was food. I think the both of them got by on $500 - $700 for the 3 weeks.
