Hi, I own a trucking company based out of California. As of 1/20/2011, posting we call on load boards are offering us less than $1.00 a mile. And what do brokers have to say about this? It's winter time and it's they're time to make money. I propose a strike for all trucks in California. The brokers are admitting they have the same money as they did in the summer, but refuse to pay because it's they're time to make money and there's actual idiot who are taking the load and falling into their trap. Diesel price has gone up and the only change we see is rates going down. We need to come together and refuse to take cheap freight. There's no way I can even cover my truck expenses with $1.00 yet alone support a family and household.

Hi, I work for TransCore and we were shocked to see the California (CA) outbound picture change so drastically. CA had been leading the US in best paying outbound freight rates. Now the ratio of loads to trucks has all fallen off the table to where van freight is one load per ten trucks and flatbed and reefer not much better. So if half the truckers park it is still one load to five trucks. I'd advise trying to develop a relationship with a broker or brokers that loads you year around and that you don't gouge when trucks are impossible to find. Lastly hang in there because all the indicators are that when 2011 gets rolling prices are going to skyrocket.
