Opened minded team driver ?

I am 31yr old, I have been driving local trucks for about three years now. I have never been to any trucking school, just grew up in the industry. I am starting to get my foot in the OTR door, but I am a bit nervous. Not only about going OTR, but also my sexual preference. Being stuck in such a small space with another guy that I dont want to make uncomfortable. What the heck do I do? I am a bit nervous about going OTR, should I be?

You have a couple of choices: be honest and let your trainer know about your preferences, or just keep it to yourself (don't ask, don't tell). When you get on your trainer's truck, I wouldn't worry about it. Just relax and be normal.

Yeah I am pretty good at just keeping it to myself I guess. I guess alot of me in nervous about simply being in a truck with someone

I was under that impression that I was going to get teamed with a grumpy driver who was a prejudiced and racist prick, especially after hearing so many horror stories from other driver-trainees.

All of my fears were faded once I met my trainer. He was grumpy, but at the same time a very nice person. Every now and then I still run into him at the same truck stop in Ontario, CA. I'll be back on the road soon, so I'll be looking forward to running into him again.
