Schneider - I Quit

I have sent notice to Schneider via Qualcomm that I quit. I have given one weeks notice that Friday the 17th should be my last day. I have sat in one place for over 24 hours. Still next to the trailer I was told to drop for relay to deliver 20 miles away.

My TE is parked next to me. She is none too thrilled how long I've sat here. She is just now coming on duty. My news means to her that she will be waiting a while.
She said she has repeatedly asked them to have a load waiting when she comes on duty. That's kinda the while reason of "work scheduling" and "load planning."

In any case, I was very polite and gracious in thanking them for the opportunity and experience.
In orientation they admitted that we can easily go somewhere else for better pay; but we won't get the superior treatment that Schneider offers. Perhaps that is so. And if being constantly ignored for my TAH schedule is superior treatment, then I truly hate it for anyone who does not work for Schneider.

As an experienced driver; I will tell you this. Normally, during the months of January through March every year, the freight availability is at an all time low because this is the time when companies [shippers/ receivers] are taking care of their taxes - taking focus off moving freight. Happens every year.

This is usually the time where driver turnover is at its' highest. Some companies will give you a few loads and keep you moving after you've jumped ship to give off a good impression but it's the same no matter where you go. Even owner ops like to take advantage of this time and take a few weeks off from the road.

    I completely understand that.

However; Schneider could work on their communication a bit better. Instead of ignoring me, message me back and just tell me, "we're really not too concerned with your desire to get home right now. We're too busy trying to learn work flow and turbo tax. We'll get to you when we can." At least that's a response.

Hope you find something that better.

Thanks for your madness. On one hand I have people like you encouraging me to stick it out.
On the other hand I have others telling me I have far more patience than they do.

It's more important to me to be involved with my family than to serve at the whim of Schneider.

So it's been four weeks. Have you found greener pastures?
I was considering Schneider (at least for my training period.) It seems to me that every company delivers the same thing to it's employees: broken promises!
I have a shiny new CDL and now I'm wondering if I would be better off being a fry cook at McDonald's!

Well at McDonalds you'd be home every night. My wife is of the opinion that I'd do better waiting tables. I make .26 a mile.Doing the math, at 60 mph, I get about $15.60/hr. Unless I hit traffic, construction, accident, etc.

Wendy time I hit my brake, my "hourly wage" goes down. And of course ask the wait time makes it worse.
