I've decided to join the Trucker Buddy and Adopt-A-Driver programs and adopt 90 kids, heh. The programs are virtually identical, the primary difference being that the Adopt-A-Driver program is run by CRE and deals with a class specifically in Salt Lake City, UT. CRE sends the class a big map, and you corruspond either by snail mail or e-mail, send a weekly post card, and try to visit once per year.
I can just picture all the little starry-eyed kiddies climbing all over my rig, wanting to yank the air horn, and it makes me feel all warm, fuzzy and maternal. So I'm taking on a class in Salt Lake City, UT through CRE, one in Ewing, NJ, and one in Ashland, MA through the Trucker Buddy program.
I plan to visit each class at least once annually, to send each that weekly post card, and to e-mail them frequently. I'll probably do presents at random too, like paying for a Friday pizza party, or buying each child in the class a book when they have a book fair. I'm really looking forward to it. =)
