This being election season one can't help but notice the eye pollution that is plaguing the roadways: a barrage of campaign signs. I have noticed two types of signs for the most part: "name - party (Republican) - and office" and the other reads "name - office."
It seems to me that candidates who are "other than Republican" appear to be ashamed of their party affiliation and refuse to put it on their ads in hopes that they will get elected on the idea that they are "good guys" and "not Republicans."
My dreams are becoming worse. Now they've become intense, frustrating, and at times scary. The dreams involve not knowing where I am nor how to get back on track and difficulty controlling the truck. I experience speed control issues and handling issues where I fear rollover onto neighboring cars; including Hy-Po.
In today's dream (due to appointment time, I was forced into my 10 during daytime, makes for HORRIBLE sleep day) I was in heavy traffic and trying to get to a Wal-Mart to park. Due to construction the roads and detours were all kinda screwed up and I made a giant three mile circle repeatedly and still no luck getting to the correct exit. Didn't help that a Hy-Po (Highway Patrol) even cut me off once. I finally gave up rationalizing that since I am already stopped near my next shipper I really didn't need this aggravation of trying to park in this hellhole so many more miles away from where I need to be anyway. Of course I woke up with a "WTF was that all about?"
I occasionally get a phone call from this one number, 360-529-6901, that hangs up when I answer. I decided to google it. Turns out it's that survey place that called me recently. According to what I learned from one person's comment, naturally it uses auto-dialers, and it's a scam that uses the "election survey" loophole in the "do not call registry" to reach people.
Which lead me to another discovery: the day they called, every time I dialed "4" for my answer, I noticed my phone would say "call is now being recorded" or "recording has been stopped." Of course that was a head scratcher for me. With another friend on the phone, I tried that again and it worked the same. So I gotta look into this more. I have an HTC Evo 3D. I looked through my phone but can't find where these recorded calls are stored. Hmmm....
This morning I got to visit with a McElroy driver. I approached him in jest with "I dunno why you do this. Everyone knows McElroy sucks."
I didn't expect his answer: "I know it!"
His most current gripe is McElroy has begun requiring double tarps on all loads. Dang I'm glad I didn't go back to them. One tarp was a bad enough thought; but redundant double-tarping? Forget it!
I wonder why it is God hates white men? I mean, it's not all white nor all men... but for the most part it's what I see at the intersections holding the "give me your hard-earned money" signs. Occasionally I see a non-white and even less frequent I see a female. So it leads me to believe that the economy must be far worse for cracker-head males.
Those that use the signs "Will work for food," I appreciate that. I give them a Schneider recruiter card and let them know that Schneider will work the heck out of them for peanuts. AND if they stay for so long, then we both get an extra cup of peanuts.
Speaking of which, the Occupy Protestors, perhaps we could toss come recruiter cards at them. Then they can occupy a driver's seat and soon occupy a bank account. Lazy ########.
Friend of mine told me this weekend that DOT can fine you if your bed is not made. He said "Look it up in the FMCSR." I will when I get another chance. I'm about to hafta roll.
Before I go I wanted to share some photos I had come across. Some are funny, some are reminders of why tailgating is a bad idea. So please, don't ride me about my driving. "S.W.I.F.T.", Sure, We're Insured For That, but we'd rather not go thru that that hassle.
Have a great evening!
