Well I have nothing bad to say about sage trucking school. I know I planned on telling what we did on what days but there was no time between class, driving, range, and homework. So here is a little bit of how things work.
we started the day off with watching the pre-trip video. Then you move on with a few chapters in the book watch some videos on some of what the chapters went over. Then you would discuss the chapter you just watch a video about and have a discussion. Lunch was around noon. So we were in class from 8-12 then 12:30-4:30 Monday-Friday. You also would have recruiters in there in between things. That is pretty much what we did everyday for two weeks. Week 3&4 are just 2 days each and it is all range/driving time.
You were driving/on range 2 days each week for 4 weeks a total of 4 hours each time except the Day 8 which is two hours. Day 8 is the day you would do a CDL test for the school which is exactly like the one you will take for the state to receive you CDL. You start off with pre-trip outside, in-cab, and lastly the 4 point break check (miss on thing on that and you fail). Then if you went ahead with the skills test (this is was in Indiana so may differ for each state) you do the straight back then right side off-set and lastly you do the parallel park. Then you go out on the road for the road test. You are allowed 12 points total for the pre-trip/in-cab and 12 points total with no more then 9 points in one maneuver on the skills test. You are allowed 4 free pull ups and 3 free goals. ever pull up after the 4th one is 1 point if you get out more then 3 times the fourth time you fail. You are allowed 30 points on the driving test. If you break any laws, hit someone run over a curb SHIFT ON THE TRACKS OR PUSH THE CLUTCH IN ON THE TRACKS you fail. pass all those you pass the class.
that's pretty much the basics of the class you are the only person in the truck other the the instructor. If anyone has a question feel free to ask me. I would recommend sage to anyone who doesn't wanna sign a contract with a company. I would like to make sure anyone who is reading this that is a wanna be or is looking to get a CDL study that pre-trip and 4 point brake check. Thanks for reading. hope this isn't you after reading this.

    Good job.
Did you go to the Indy or Muncie school?
I have a choise, Can even start next week, or if the state pays for it. July 29th. I wuld have to go to the Indy school then.

The company you picked? About how much did they give you to start? C.R. Englansd only offers you .25 cents per mile.

Lastly, would it be worth it for you to get your TWIC or hazmat before starting driving?

I went to sage in muncie and I loved it there. I have my hazmat and most companies i talked to ask if I had it most said thats good. TWIC I am not sure about that. I do not have it. I have chosen roehl I start at .32 cpm hauling reefer. I still have to wait to start orientation they are waiting on my physical to come back but everything else is good. STAY FAR FAR away from England.
