Turtles and Testimony

In a recent blog I received a comment complimenting some fan art of my illustrious carrier and mentioned I could be a candidate for work in the marketing department. After another comment teased him regarding the content of my writings he rescinded most of his compliment to leave me only with "photo editing." While that's fine and well I must bring up two things two other business people (former business owners) have told me.
1) First had owned a carpet store. One day he was approached by someone whom he had continuous quarrel with. The guy said, "Ralph, I don't like you. I think you're obnoxious and arrogant. However; I like your prices and I like your work. Despite what I think of you, you seem to do honest work. Now I know you probably have the same opinions of me. Fine. I don't care. Despite our personal feelings you have what I need and I have what you want. I need your carpet and labor. You want money. I have money. Do you have a problem with taking my money?"
"I don't have to like a man to like his money."
From that day on they did a great deal of business and rarely spoke to each other unless they had to.
2) If you're gonna do some selling, you gotta have your BS on the tip of your tongue.
Now look, straight out of high school I had a drama scholarship. I'm not too good at improv, I'm not as witty as I'd like to be on the spur, but I can write some. Try this out... I got my BS at my fingertips.
"Only a few short months ago I was unemployed. Out of work and desperate, I didn't know what to do. How to keep a roof over my family's head? How to keep food in my babies' mouths?
Then it seems the heavens parted and a great orange hand reached down from Heaven and heaved me high. Schneider National Carriers lifted me from the dregs of unemployment. They put me to work so I could earn an honest 1/2 days pay for a weeks work. Now I make enough money that I no longer qualify.... or rather have to depend on food stamps, medicaid or government housing....
But I DO know I couldn't have done it without Schneider."

"I'm Blank Look; and while others are wishing they could upgrade to orange, I was blessed and privileged to have started my career by bleeding orange! Thank you Schneider!"
This past weekend the family & I took an excursion to S. Padre/Mustang Island. We saw a once in a lifetime thing...... Here's some of the video I recorded....
This sea turtle laid 78 eggs. After she packed them into the sand the Texas Parks & Wildlife workers held her back from re-entering the sea while they tagged her and took a DNA sample. They said she was fairly big for a female. After they cut her loose they collected her eggs to take to a hatchery to keep them safe until they hatch. They said this was only the third sea turtle discovered on Mustang Island in the last.... I dunno... many years.
And I must have espn or something. Maybe I'm a turtle whisperer; because I could hear her thoughts. She was thinking; "I been doin this schiz-nit for fifty years and the government intervention gets worse all the time! I been up here in the blazing hot sun in labor all day long with a crowd of fools staring at me. All I want is to get back in the water and have a friggin taco. But noooooo...... corn-holio back here won't let go of me!"
We visited the U. S. S. Lexington. The beach was teeming with jellyfish. Spongebob lied. They aint pink or purple.
While touring the Lexington we made way up to the bridge. Ethan sat in a commander's chair and grabbed the red phone. I gotta tell ya, I know I'm biased.... but dang I gotta cute kid!
I woke up around 10 a.m. Sunday morning. After we left the beach we headed home. My wonderful and adorable wife insisted I sleep because as soon as we get back, I gotta get in the truck and git back to work. Well, it's about a 9-10 hour drive from S. Padre to Paris. That's not counting any potential stops. So she's insisting I sleep; I'm thinking grub. Finally I tell her to pull into the DQ; I needed to pee anyway. And so did a couple of our kids. So we go in and do the potty thing. Then she goes in while I go to get the other kid out of the truck. After my wife walks in, a lady walks up and locks the door and starts turning out lights. It was only nine p.m. She said they normally close at 10, but they had been so busy they were running out of food.
So we moseyed on. We were about 30 minutes from San Antone. We hit a Jack in th Box. Worst one we ever been to. They messed up Shana's order.... so she went somewhere else. Soon I somewhat dozed off. As we eased past Austin Shana apologizes, but she's too sleepy to continue driving. So I hit the Flying J at Jarrell and grab some pep juice and away we went. This was Sunday into Monday morning. I finally got to bed about 9 p.m. last night.
As for the ads, I made a new one today. Enjoy....
