Schneider - So it Continues

A few days ago it came over the QualComm that another customer is being placed into the quasi-dedicated area of service like what I am doing now. Two things about the notice really stood out to me:
1) From Corsicana, TX (maybe 100 mi SE of Dallas on I-45) to Houston area.
2) Pay is mileage based.
I guess that's gonna be a total rookie run. And I mean total rookie; right out the egg. I'm only about nine months in and I wouldn't take a crap line like that. Corsicana to Houston and back paid on Household Movers Miles? HAHAHA... riiiight. That's gonna be about 185 miles X return trip = 370 X 5 days a week = 1850 miles X 28 cpm = $518 before deducts. That's all guess work, naturally. But still; considering how well it started out for us going from Mt. Vernon, TX to Houston at about 285 miles one way? Or to San Antonio at about 380? Doubt the drivers on that account will be happy with mileage pay very long. I wanted to reply to the notice with laughter.
When at the OC to get my PM done, I found a prime spot to drop my trailer. As I was pulling up to set up another driver eased up from my right ahead of me wanting to corner around me. No problem. I stopped and waved him on around. He waved back real friendly like and came on around. He dang near removed the front of my truck! He never slowed down. Glad one of us was watching because he woulda dragged the front left corner of my truck off if I hadn't thrown it in reverse and moved quick, fast and in a hurry. Dang Schneider drivers!
So I finally hit the road about 3:15 a.m. Around 2:30 a.m. they called me to let me know it was ready to roll. I grabbed my laptop and headed out. They gave me 8 new drive tires (I was very happy about that,) a new grill (dunno WTF that's all about,) replaced a mudflap, and checked my a/c. They had to check my QualComm because in the last couple weeks it has sporadically cut out. They checked the plugs et al, but since they couldn't re-create the problem they had to let it go.
I had a letter in the mail today from Schneider informing me of some set up with QualComm which offered me my logs to save and/or print from PDF. The website is https://dhos.myqualcomm.com/dhm/ . The letter gave me a password to log in. So now I can trace my steps back to my infancy with Schneider. Was kind fun to look at it and mentally trace where I was at that time. Also, now my wife can babysit me from afar. It shows current duty status as well. It looks like I'm off duty and have been for a while.
While walking from my truck to the house I gave my DBL a call to request a route through a certain area, knowing what my route and hours will likely be, I'll be able to finally get my truck washed. He asked what took so long to get my truck out the shop. I said, "Well sir, what we have is a shop full of guys who get paid by the hour instead of by the job; so they don't give a crap. Once you change that, you'll change how fast you get trucks back on the road."
Earlier my eight year old boy came in wearing camo shirt and shorts, a Superman cape and a blue/red "Lone Ranger" style mask, slightly cockeyed. He stood up on the bed and looked into my mirror and got upset because his shirt had "Toy Story" on it and made him look ridiculous. I told him I didn't think it was the shirt that did it. He insisted, turned the shirt around and was satisfied.
Now that I've put away some steak and taters and blogged, think I'm gonna look for Photoshop inspiration. Later, driver!
