I graduated truck driving school back in December. All my buddies have been picked up by thier companies, completed the OTR training and are now first seat drivers in thier company truck.I'm pretty sure that my school is responsible for my OTR training, but when I call and ask what the hold up is they just tell me that things are slow and won't pick up untill March i'm first on the list, that was in Febuary. They are still saying the same thing except this time they are saying April. My question is can anyone give me the name of a company that does OTR traninig for Student Graduates.

most any large carrier can give you the OTR training you need. but b selective on who you go to work for. ask people for their experinces with a company. always remember there are no stupid questions!

dont b scared to call around to these companys or to hang out at the truck stop to ask drivers their opinion of different companys. dont b shocked if you hear a horror story or two. one drivers hell job could b anothers dream job.

Hi, I am taking the test again and would like to bypass the OTR training since I feel confident from past driving almost 20 years ago. Loved it from LA to NY but got offered a job by the beach, big mistake.
Anyway, will they let me get my license, buy a used tractor, then get solo contracts?

Henry706, hello,,look there are a lot of schools out there that as far as they are concerned you get the license they get the money, but the school you went to would have to be listed on any application you do with any compnay you apply to. for how many years?,,dont know that one. i was grandfathered in the school of hard knocks. i will tell ya that most of the foot work is your job not upto the school to get you a job, but yes some freithhauling jobs slow down from 1st week of november to sometimes upto last week of april. being a trucker takes more patience than you can ever imagine. so just get to the truckstops like the other driver said. get some ideas from the veteran drivers,,and as crotchity as some can be there are a few pointers you may want to pickup on too! depending on the area you are willing to run,,careful for most of the freighthaulers(refrigerated trailers&dryvan) run strickly east coast. so be careful who ya choose. take in alot of the foot work on your own and if you have a pretty stable work history before you went to trucking school,,make a resume and a work history, check out some of the trucker links from here and from other sites,,,,,

    truckjobseekers.com
there are thousands of truckers job sites out there. also ask the webmaster from here to refer you if you can find the links.
and for you sake and your family,,,,be safe out there.
