Panther Expedited Services, Inc. - Seville, Oh.? i met a guy today who said he leases a straight truck from panther and clears $1000-$1500 after all his expenses per week. Not only that but he runs less than 2000 miles a week!
Sounds too good to be true. Does anyone know anything more about this?

Re: leasing a straight truck from panther?
He is correct- as an expeditor you will make some very good rates per miles. But you may also get stuck waiting on loads. Plus, after sitting you may have to run like your keister is on fire on your next load.

Panther II Transportation or Company That runs cargo vans.
Anybody have any experience with Panther II Transportation?
I see they have cargo vans. Any idea what the pay is like? What do you haul? Do you log according to DOT? Do you unload-load? etc.
Any of you know of any other good company that has company cargo vans? I want to start out driving a company van before I think about o/o. I want to make sure that I like this before buying my own van.
I've heard of one called FedEx Custom Critical but you have to have your own van to drive for them.
Fill me in on the pro’s and con’s of driving a cargo van.
Thanks

Re: Panther II Transportation or Company That runs cargo vans.
do some research, i believe that Panther just bought out Con-Way expedited.
driving one of those "Custom Critical" trucks i believe is an O/O thing. but, i also do believe that you need some years of experience first, as they typically do not hire/take on newbies to the industry.
expect to be away from home as well. probably more than the average truck driver, at least this is what i have been told by some drivers, whether or not absolutely true though, i cannot confirm.........
the con-way sale is in the september 2006 issue of overdrive magazine, page 10 in the "short hauls" column, near the bottom...........Last edited by pro1driver; 10.01.2006 at 05.01 PM. Reason:: spelling errors

Re: Panther II Transportation or Company That runs cargo vans.
I contacted a Panther II Recruiter and asked them the following Questions:
-Do you have company owned vans or are they all owner-operated?
-How much experience is required to drive a van?
-Does the company pay for hotel?
-What is the home time policy? How long are you out?
-Are the drivers paid by the mile?
-Do you have to do driver’s daily logs?
-How much time do I have to make a delivery? I know these are “expedited” loads so I know time is critical.Last edited by truckntim80; 10.01.2006 at 06.40 PM. Reason:: typo

i thought that panther was 100% OO's. Another company is CTX, but they are owner operator as well. The last ad I saw said cargo navs get 70-80 cpm.

I haven't heard a word from them, maybe my e-mail got lost or they are not interested in talking with me, My best bet would be to call them.

We are O/O's negotiating with Panther right now, they are all owner operator company- the confusion is that the company driver rates they offer are due to the fact they have Owner Operators that have Fleet exclusively with Panther, the company helps them fill those seats at comany pay scale.
We are also looking for current or former O'O's that have a Big Truck and have worked with Panther, we have a 2006 Classic XL, we have been leased to one of the big companys for over 2 years- looking to run a bit less to take a break on us and our Truck....we have driven over a half million miles in 2 years averaging $1.21 per w/ Fuel Surcharge included....we want to give this expedited a shot, no home time needed and our truck is set up with A.P.U. / In-Motion Satellite TV, AND comforts of home so sitting a bit more will be OK with us....per mile profit increase is what we hope to attain.....
