The last 8V92 I drove was in a 1984 Pierce Arrow Fire Truck. It was a short wheelbase pumper with only a 500 gallon booster tank, it would flat out RUN !!! I wish those motors were still around.

One company in SK does offer 1.15 / mile plus .45 / mile FSC turns to be 1.60 / mile . This is the package for the 1 ton truck. The load and Tow is 2.15 / mile plus .45 / mile FSC makes it 2.15 / mile . We talk loaded mile. That s your gross, take away fuel, 4% of fuel if u use the company fuel card ( but with fleet deal , they pay for license plate and insurance that you pay back monthly ( 500$ 1 ton , 650$ tractor unit ) . These numbers are fresh from Friday March 14th.

It looks not too bad , but with my 8V92 I m not sure its great , would I make 9 mpg ? Maybe but coming back empty also , lollll. Although I would save on motel.
You forgot to take away income tax , and what ever fee the company takes away or is the 1.40 / mile takes consideration of company charges ?
Of course my best bet is to pull a trailer where I can haul multiple RVs and get a load back because of trailer.
    Thanks

You sure hit it right when you say a new pick-up truck cost more that your home. New vehicle prices are crazy.
Before you had Shoes , Bicycle , motorcycle , car or pick-up and the 1st one was never more $$ than next one and so on. Now you can buy a bicycle for more than a decent used car ...

And a funny plastic twist oil pan plug...
I m a bias Mopar or No-Car guy ; But we have lots of customers ( I work in a repair shop, Estevan, SK ) those new 6.7 Fords and they seems to do the job well. Maybe Henry found a good motor to put in his pick-ups instead of trying a different motor every 2.5 years trying to beat the venerable 6BT. From what I see there is no real bad pick-up trucks ,mostly stupidity or negligence from owner or driver.
But the oil plug is still funny on those Ford 6.7...

That new Ford (couple of years old) 6.7 is an all in house deal, Henry isn't buying them from anyone. In fact just got the updates on the 2016 Ford medium duty trucks F-650/750 will no longer have the Cummings, just a new up rated Ford 6.7 and the Ford V-10 Gasser.

I know , I just wrote found cause I could. Found ideas or found a motor ... It s all good. I like how nice it runs and start to say the least. But indeed , access to things like belt didn t get better. I don t understand why they want so bad to run a belt driven fan with a speed sensor and a clutch that has a duty cycle. ( They re all like that, not only Ford ) Why not a simple 2 electric fans you get rid of all dumb shrouding, open space for maintenance ect.

I agree with you on the fans, it will be interesting to see how the serviceability is on that 6.7 in the 650/750 with the clam shell hood?

I've read through the forum and appreciate both the pro's & cons, but am seriously contemplating in filling out an application(s) for towaway companies. Currently I have a '12 Ram 3500 SLT, setup with a B&W Turnover ball and Companion Slider Fifth Wheel hitch. Ive been checking into insurance, license plating etc.etc. For those of you that have an ear to the road I guess what I am asking if you were going to rack and stack those 'established' companies out there (Classic, Horizon, Star Fleet) Please if you would reply with your pros, cons, biased and unbiased opinions, pitfalls etc.

You think a factory engineer is going to make something easier to work on? Not that I've ever seen.
