You can't get there from here... at least by road.

There are no roads whereby you can reach Hudson Bay, not even in the winter. The closest you can get is Radisson, Quebec, which is right near the end of the James Bay Road. You'll still be 100+ miles from Hudson Bay and about 70 miles from James Bay. You can get to Churchill, MB, which is on Hudson Bay by train or plane.

But what about fuel stops and truckstops for the breaks?

Ya, I knew there weren't any roads going to Hudson Bay, the joke was, I doubt if my fleet manager even knew where it was.:biggrin_2559: But I'd still like to see it.

Those consulates, I'd no idea at all. I suppose they're more or less required, but with going back and forth so much, that wasn't something I'd thought of. It gets to the pointe that ya feel at home on both sides of the border.

It does concern me a bit about what to do in case of an emergency, I would think there would be something in place for that, it's not like it would be something brand new if anything was to happen to anyone.

Phone calls are cheap, so maybe Monday I'll be calling around, then let you guys know. Hopefully, none of us would need it, but then doodoo does happen.

I'm in the boat that no one in my family even knows where I go, except my daughter. I'd better let her know what to do, just in case.

    Just food for thought here.

When our driver died, it was far cheaper for the wife to fly up and visit the funeral home and do a direct cremation. She was the owner of the vehicle and drove it home.

It is highly expensive for the body to be shipped back home. They had a service at home later.

    Yes, good info there.
Thinking a bit more on this, it might good to get my daughter a passport or enhanced license. There sure would be a lot less hassle for her if something was to happen.:yes2557:

My problem is that we live in central Illinois and I run mainly up in the Alberta area.

It is a long way from home and our state does not offer enhanced license like Michigan does.

My passport is due to expire in November. I thought about the passport card, but what happens if I need to fly back from Edmonton. I will not be able to. Reason I will probably go with the passport again.

Passports have become quite the money maker, eh? When I was a kid, we'd take the ferry boat over to Courtwright On. No passport, no drivers license, no ID whatsoever, and no customs that I remember. I think things were all on the honour system. Spend the day with our buddies over there, then come home. Man, I wish the ease of that was still with us. DHS has really become big business. Not trying to make any of this political.
But ya, I'm going to do that with my daughter, as well as carry in my wallet some sort of directive as to what should be done, and who to notify.
Makes me glad I've never had an issue I couldn't address myself. I wonder if the Canadian guys would have these sort of problems? Likely not.

I think they would to an extent. But it is easier to get into Canada sometimes than the US at some ports.
