All depends,Panther is a all O/O company they don't own any trucks.Newer trucks I see now are auto but there still a lot of 10 speeds out there.

So you drove for another o/o while saving for your own truck? How did you find the solo opportunity? not having any luck finding anything other then teams right now for straight trucks.

That's because Panther doesn't offer any good loads for solos so the fleet owners really have no choice to hire teams. Also team trucks make more don't let a solo tell you anything different.

Actually, team trucks generate more income for the owners and Panther. I average $600-$800 when I run solo, a bit more teaming. Owners willing to let you run solo are far and few between, but if you understand and practice Panthers buisness model you can still succeed. I do agree that Panther could utilize solos more, perhaps by assigning a dispatcher or two to cull the load boards of potential solo loads before the auto dispatch system starts recommending trucks.

I wonder how they pay contract carriers? I am going to pick a load up for them today. Their score on date is really low.

I can see why they have a low score now. I have read their broker contract.
3% for 7-10 day is crazy , the excellence program they want you to sign is just a way for them to take money back from you and having my cell phone pinged isn't going to happen. and all the possible penalties for some as not being ablt to submit a pod within 30 minutes of delivery is BS.
The rate gthey pay may be great but with all the ways to have your money cut is ridiculous.

I'm in the fleet so have no idea how they work w/ outside contractors. Seems to me it would be beneficial to grab a load if your in a crappy area and need a backhaul. At least the payment terms are presented prior to you accepting.

Heres how they work with broker carriers. If you check their credit score on the DAT load board when they have a load posted it's a score of 53 out of a 100 and days to pay is listed as 83. I booked the load anyway after
arranging a com check when I arrived at delivery destination. They wanted me to set my phone so they could"ping" it. I told them they NO WAY. They wanted load tarped. Wrong load dims given turned out load was almost three times DIM. size given. Needless to say I didn't tarp it, I gave option of unloading trailer or extra day before delivery if it had to be tarped.
I left Suwanee ga at 5pm arrived at westwego La at 915 am.
Called to get my com check number was told we don't pay our carrriers like that. I say OK freight won't unload till I have comfirmed com check in hand.
At about 12PM I finally have a authorized comcheck freight unloaded and I'm home now.
After looking over what they call "panther carrier excellence program contract", I can say I would sell pencils on the street corner before signing it.
Their contract is the most one way docement I have ever read and anyone that would sign it is a moron. The only thing in it is ways panther will reduce your payment by somethimng as simple as a check call every four hours or if you are in traffice because of a accident. These penalties range from 3% to 100%.It attached below have a look if you want.
Overall I would haul for them again with com check on arrival, but I don't think that will happen anyway.

Went to Panther today w/ a valid complaint. Not only did they remedy it, they admitted it was currently a fleet wide problem and were working towards a resolution. What more could I ask for?
