Okay I am totally new to this, but not driving so that doesn't phase me. I've logged 2000 mile weeks numerous times. What I mean by being new is I am not a trucker or frieght hauler by trade, but have equipment for my own business which is recycling. Its a great business for me, but only keeps me busy 3 days a week on average. I'd like to raise extra savings at the moment, so got the idea to use my van and time off to take expedited loads when it fits. I hd a friend that told me about Express Family, and that is what started this whole thing. What other companies like EF can I get with to increase amount of load offers?

    Thanks!

    Mike

Oh one more thing, I was told a pay of about $0.85 per mile was about going rate, can anyone validate or dispute that?

I'm no expert, I promise you that -- but from what I've been reading in the forums..
    1. being an owner operator is not really something you can do 'when it fits'. It's gotta be a fulltime commitment. If you try to do it part-time with the costs of being an O/o, you're nearly guaranteed to be paying to drive.
    2. From what I've read that cpm seems really low. Some guys are looking at $.65/mi just to pay for their truck expenses. Course, I don't know that that's with a cargo van, so perhaps someone with more knowledge on the subject than I have will chime in here.
    Good luck!
