WARNING: USHIP has huge brokerage fees (hidden)

    I never said or meant they would fail because of being illegal. I beleive they will get eventually get regulated by the government like the rest of us so the government can get their tax money. Our government looks for people finding ways around the rules, then steps in.
    But hey, in the mean time, maybe we should sell our big rigs and buy toyhaulers. I'll admit, I've thought about it.

    Who ever said I failed?Because of folks like you who don't follow the rules and break laws we legal folks pay for it by higher insurance rates and tougher rules.People like you make it harder for folks who want to things the right way and legal way.This is why I don't waste my time with uship no more because of illegal transporters force legal transporters to go broke!

    Personally, I think mandatory insurance sucks. I'd rather have FREEDOM. Poor people should be able to do work too. Poor people should be able to choose between driving to make a living w/out insurance, and food for the family. I think truckers are way over paper-worked/red-taped. Reminds me of a more totalitarian/comunist regime & I've been to such. When you go to a DMV, it's very very similar to "those" countries. & I hate the red tape & I hate the mandatory BS for "my prototection". It's all BS. More ways to collect taxes & keep a man down, IMHO. I'd rather have freedom.

    Now, about uShip, the biggest problem I have is that their fee is not upfront, and it is 12.9%, which is a big part of the profit margin, esp. when you consider that many of their loads are $.50/mile, and gas might cost $.35/mile to $.50/mile for some truckers. I looked for a long time for their fee & I couldnt find it until I actually paid for a truck, trailer & DOT #, so I could join their site, & once I had a membership w/ DOT #, only then was it obvious to me that a 12.9% fee was taken from me, and the person who wants his stuff shipped thinks its fair to ask for $.50/mile, because he doesn't realize that the shipper is only actually getting $.43/mile. In fact, the guys who actually ship the product don't even know that the person who wants their stuff shipped is being shafted by uShip too. uShip secretly takes money off both ends & neither party is aware of it. Their fee policies are not upfront. Someone said they found it in 5 mins, well I didnt & I spent longer looking for it, & I'm a web-developer, familiar w/ web-design. Their fees are not obvious or easy to find & figure out & I'm warning the truckers on this forum now, & here, so they know, before making any major investments. uShip sucks.

    How can legal shippers, who pay $2000+ for commercial insurance compete with illegal shippers? They can't, esp. not at $.50/mile. Some items are at $.20/mile. And there is always going to be a new trucking business starting up, willing to bid the $.50/mile loads, because our economy suck so bad, & there are so many jobless people who can get a truck, and if they don't have to pay the fee's that the legal truckers do, to get started, they can just jump right in and out-bid everyone, just to get their foot in the door & build a reputation. There's an endless supply of that sort of thing on uShip & it's NOT worth it.
    I won't deny it might be good for a back-haul every now & then, but before investing much into it, you gotta know what the real deal is there.

    Most of the items up for bid will sit there for weeks, while endless newbies make $50/mile bids, & then move on. It's not a living. It's pathetic & a waste of time.

    1 more thing, that $2000 commercial insurance - you can't just cancel it & get your money back. You have to give them 35 days to cancel the form H before you can cancel your commercial insurance, so there's a lot of money to lose.

    Wow-if only he wrote the book to a congressman.
    Actually my Cargo insurance with my own authority was only 800 per month.
    And I found uship fees to be a lot more reveiling than any brokers that I've dealt with.
    And the low rates on uship isn't because of uship or the newbies but because of competing with guys with less commercialization like lack of insurance and DOT regs.
    I don't care for uship either but please put the blame where it belongs.
    And lack of insurance is more unfair for the unsuspecting customer than the carrier.
    Really why so much hate for uship when I don't think they force you to use them. Their are so many load boards out there even some for straight trucks and power only.

    If people want the rates to go up, start turning in these illegal haulers, make it a level playing field. The DOT needs to start checking all these haulers registered to U-Ship.

    I don't use ##### never have registered there soem years ago and saw they had nothing to offer and never went back.

    I have played around a bit on their site, and there are no hidden fees. You put in the rate you want and their site automatically adds in the fees. Nothing is coming out of the trucker's pocket. All users have the same fees added to their bid. There is nothing hidden about their process.

    That being said, I have never booked a load through the site and doubt I ever will. For starters, the bid price is cumbersome because you can not ask questions directly to the shipper. Second, the shippers & receivers are not usually professionals. They don't know how trucking works. Most importantly, the rates did not seem very good.

    If I'm doing something illegal, the DOT is gonna show up at my house, why not go into USHIP, the legal carriers have nothing to worry about. What does U-Ship care, the way they handle it, they aren't responsible if anything happens, same as Central Dispatch.
