The BIG PROBLEM with (ALL ' lease to logistics') companies- NO Health Insurance, NO 401k, NO Paid Vacation, NO Sick days, NO Paid Work phone, NO Raises, NO Bonus check, NO Paid training classes in which ' others in the class DO get paid' as in dispatchers and managers and safety teachers, MANY MANY MANY Expenses, when work is slow you have to find the money from somewhere to pay bills or you have no check VS- The Company I worked before the economy went down- I got a company truck, company phone, fuel cards, paid vacation days, paid sick days, company matched up to 10% 401k, health insurance, yearly Raises, yearly Bonuses, the company's mechanic maintained the truck, paid training, paid for TWIC card.

 

I don't understand. All that is a part of being an independent contractor, not an employee. It's called running a business. Every industry is basically the same in that regard. There is actually no "problem" with any of it.
Your business is leasing equipment onto another business so the both of you mutually benefit financially. Where's the problem?

 

Old thread to dig up, but I completely agree with you Sauceman. Thetruthontrucking poster does not seem to understand that when it's your show, everything is on you. That means maintenance, taxes, health insurance and retirement among others. Running a business is not for everyone, but for me, it's been very rewarding financially and otherwise.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with depending on a company for your livelihood if you want that, just don't knock those who want more.
I am not leased on to any company mentioned in this thread but am a leased on o/o.

 

Absolutely! Nothing against being a company man. The world needs those folks just as much as business owners.
I'm working on becoming an O/O here in the next few months. Ik lease programs are a scam but I plan on hopefully utilizing the rest of mine strategically to help with a hefty down payment on a truck. I'm fairly certain itll work out how I plan.
Also, you're right, it's an old thread. I'm always late to the party, or so it seems haha.
