All I can say is I ran the first new truck for seven years and now will take off in the morning on the first run with another new truck. I will make it because I know how to get loads back to Indiana for another RV. Running both ways loaded is the key to make it.

Sometimes it is. I have no problem running empty either. I do not always go back to Indiana. Sometimes, I go sight seeing. My advance almost always pays the way both ways.

    Truck to haul RVs

I'd recommend you dump the pickup idea and find a used Class 8. I've got years of experience around RVers and can tell you almost all the pickups out there are overloaded with a fifth wheel. Go to www.Escapees.com and look for the HDT forum in their discussion section. You'll find tons of info and even a source of used Class 8s for sale by members there. A Class 8 is really the only way to go unless you plan on pulling small fifth wheels. If you get into quality like New Horizons they almost all require at least a medium duty truck but why waste time in a rig that isn't built for th long haul. A class 8 is much more comfortable and safer! They're also a whole lot less money that a pickup.

Do you guys that haul with your trucks use any type of Emergency roadside service? Have you looked into extended warranties or anything like that? I plan on getting a CDL hopefully late fall or next spring. I have had a few things happen here at the house so i sorta need a little independance right now but i still need a job to. Thanks guys for all the input I really need some good tips on getting started. Guys thanks again and stay safe out there.

    new job

I hauled for Gulf Stream from 90 to 96, got out of it because I burned out from to many 14 to 18 hr. driving days. It's been a dream ever since to do it again with my wife. Well, in 2 weeks my dream is coming true. I have a 96 Dodge dully, I'm buying a 2000 T300 Kenworth with a 102" cabin on the back. I will be pulling a trailer with 3 RV's, my wife will pull with the dully. If we don't get back hauls will load the pickup on trailer on the trip back home. I'm not raising a family or paying a mortgage. I will be happy with with making truck payments, upkeep and a hamburger. I have a cdl, she has a chauffeurs.
Hope it goes as well as I'm hoping it will.

Try those 14 to 18 hour driving days now and you'll find it pretty expensive .

I love my daul alternator duramax

My one ton is holding up very well.......with some mods! I have been pulling hard with her and I'm happy still. I do think that the mods are helpful as long as you don't go crazy.
Tranny cooler, intake, boost and Pyro guages, air bags, ported air, shimmed fuel rail, and more

Amazing to say the least to many on that forum. No special filtration and they swear if none, the injectors die.

Not to mention their other gospels.
