And where did you come up with this nonsense ? Have you ever seen 1 ton trucks with stretched frames to accommodate sleepers wider than the truck cab and meet FMCSA sleeper berth dimensions ? Why would those owners go to that expense if they could get hotel rooms paid ? I'd like to know how many RV haulers people have seen in hotel parking lots . Why do I see so many spending the night in rest areas , truckstops , and WalMart parking lots ?

    Roadmedic and truckon Thank this.

I want to believe you, I really do, but I do not know where one of these companies that pays for hotels is located. I have called all of them as near as I can tell, and they told me you sleep in your truck or on the ground or wherever you want but they do not buy hotel rooms.

Drivers are driving new trks to dealers all the time like freightliner.I have talk to many. They rent a car to take to the airport or a hotel room and fly to their next job, compay pays for it.Far as rvs,why would you want to haul rvs and have to sleep in the trk all the time if no sleeper.Common since tells me not to drive for a company if they don't pay for a room. The rv haulers I have seen is one driving an extended cab not day cabs.Thats what I assume hes talking about, hauling rvs in a local trk.

These companies do pay for the drivers room, plain tickets, rent a car and I believe one meal a day. We're talking hauling brand new trks.Customers don't want the drivers sleeping in their trks, would you?

Actually I have been driving for 16 years. Yes I have seen piggy backs many many times. But hauling RVs and doing piggyback truck drive aways are apples and oranges. I am only interested in hauling RVs because my wife and I want to see the country and have someone else put the fuel in the tank, we are not trying to make a living doing it. We want to go where we want when we want. I appreciate your advice but you are talking about something completely different from what I am asking about. But thanks anyway.

    RickG Thanks this.

True it may be different but only using piggy backs as an example. If they pay for rooms then why would'nt someone hauling rvs do the same thing. That's all im saying.

Patti I am on your side. I wish they did but in the RV hauling sector it is not done, I wish it was. They pay per mile just like big rigs and you have to pay for all your expenses out of it just like truckers. I know truckers would like their companies to pay for hotel rooms too but it just aint happening. But I am OK with this, I just wanted to know if it was OK to sleep in the RVs in route. From what I have been told they frown upon it but........................
