If they put the EOBR on it, then it will have to be used like a big truck with their restrictions.

I did not even bring up vacations and camping. Just the simple stuff.

It is one of the reasons I think they will not be going after under 26,000. But that is my opinion. I have yet to see anything on it.

You can use the vehicles for personal use.

Thanks Sheep Dog! I use my dually to pull my 5th wheel. I couldn't afford to have one truck for hot shot hauling and another to pull my 5th wheel. If you aren't logging or writing off any of the personal miles for tax purposes, what difference would it make any way?

EOBR's have a personal conveyance option on off duty . When you go off duty after doing a posttrip our systems won't switch to driving until a pretrip is done .

Maybe it will, maybe it will not. It is a carrier decision. Many companies do not have the option.

In addition, personal conveyance is a possible issue with the DOT. If I take my camper on a trip and pass a scale, then get pulled over, it can cause further headaches.

I know a friend had his on the truck and did the post trip. Was bobtailing and went to a Walmart a mile or so away and it was an instant violation of the eobr and received a reprimand from his company.

Just because your company has it does not mean everyone will.

I am fortunate. I am contracting through a buddy. I can drive as much or as little as I want. My buddy who owns the company doesn't care what I do as long as I deliver the goods on time. I can understand it being a problem if your every move is being watched. Also, I thought I read that only trucks over 26K limit were going to be required to use the On Board devices. If so, most one tons will be exempt.

I have not seen anything about the limit except for Electronic OnBoard Braking systems.
