No, I don't have my own authority. I've heard it's a lot of hassle being a carrier, but I'm no expert. Not sure I want the hassle.

I know you do it for a living RM. I've read many of your posts regarding this business. When I post about the business, I try to keep it limited to my experience and don't discuss it beyond that. It may not work for some people but it's working for me and that's what I care about.

Interesting...didn't know it was really an option to haul RVs from just anywhere!

In any event, since I haven't come across the answer elsewhere on the Forum, let me ask here: Are there any recommendations on companies that I might talk to about leasing on to for LTL trucking or Hotshotting from my area of the country (mid-Atlantic in general or southeast Virginia in particular)? Or other suggestions on ways to enter the industry such as becoming an owner/operator and use a dispatch service; and if so who?
I'm ready to purchase whatever equipment will work best.

They are not pulling from those areas. They dead head to Indiana.

The rest of your question is best from some other poster.

    Nottoway Thanks this.

Bennett tried to get contractors to have 24K 5th wheels because there was one manufacturer in MO that put out 5th wheels weighing over 20K . I talked to a couple of haulers that had pulled them .

There is one in Elkhart that is at 18K. It gets many of the haulers in trouble when they cross scales in Florida.

I certainly hope to never see one.

I already have a guy running from Virginia Beach and Richmond to the NY/NJ area and I only run 1 truck per lane, but I'm sure there are companies like mine (hotshot car carrier) or others in your area that would set you up. I know a lot about car carrying on the east coast, nothing about the other kinds of expediting or hot shotting. PM me if you want to know about cars, I can give some free info.

Can you offer any contacts or websites in Florida for RV hauling?

Has anyone heard that progressive is dropping Hotshot and expeditors, my agent has not notified me, but other drivers have told me they received a notice, can anyone suggest a good reasonable priced insurance company.

No profit in hauling RV's and trailers. It's a fools game! You have to live out of your truck like a rat! The companies will leave you broke in the end. The only ones who keep doing it are either ignorant or retired with nothing else better to do. Not trying to be mean, just stating the cold hard facts that most don't want to face :( it's a scam folks! KEEP YOUR WALMART JOB!
