If he is using this as an excuse to bail then he should have used another excuse or just be honest about it. I know you said that he did have some issues with the company but to me this excuse is like saying someone has passed away in the family. It will come back to haunt you.

So far, no. I am running some single loads but I am missing out on stuff because I am solo.

I know it is going to catch up with him. The Fleet Manager I spoke with had his suspicions. However it plays out is out of my line of sight. I am moving on as best I can.

Are you in a st8 truck? I've been solo for 3 years in a st8 and do very well. But I am a o/o and stay in this area.

    Hey Criminey Jade,

I'm looking for a new job in this new year and I've been thinking about applying to Expediter Services. Are there opportunities for solo drivers wanting to drive straight trucks? I wouldn't mind teaming however it would have to be with someone I already knew and got along well with...

I've already got my class A CDL and all of my endorsements. I was with Swift for about a week and then I quit. I don't have a problem with OTR or being away from home for weeks at a time. I just didn't like manuevering and backing such long 53 foot trailers and I feel straight trucks would be the ideal vehicle for me to drive.

    mje Thanks this.

There are fleet owners at my carrier that run solo trucks.

Are they solo straight trucks? Does the carrier/fleet owners require previous experience? What's there hiring area?

Keep "hangin' in there!" Have you made any contacts at other companies yet? If not, you should get right on it. There is a good chance that one of two things will happen if the guy who owns your outfit is contacted by another company for a job reference. One is that he will suddenly decide that you CAN run solo. Of course the other is that he will decide to go ahead and git rid of you right now. But it seems to me like you have to try. Don't just let them keep you "hanging" for much longer. Good Luck!

    mje Thanks this.
