Hey CondoCruiser, I can't speak for the new TriPac Evolutions, as we have one of the last old ones made in 2013. I've read about them though, and picked up some brochures at TK, and the one thing I see majorly wrong with them is that horribly designed, stupid 3 knob controller. I personally think the old digital controller was a whole lot better and much easier to operate. I've talked to some other drivers about it, and they say they like the old ones better. Plus, while the Evolution isn't the ugliest or worst looking APU on the road, it's certainly not the most attractive either. The old style TriPacs were the prettiest, best looking APUs on the road, I'd take one of them over those dorky looking Evolutions any day.
true blue Thanks this. -
My experience with the Rigmaster has caused me to have the opinion that they are nothing but junk! And then what little experience that I had with TK left me the opinion that if I was buying one, TK is the only way to go.
TriPac Dude Thanks this. -
Well, I've never had a RigMaster, but I haven't heard much good about them. Hence, why they are infamously called RigBlasters because of their excessively loud noise. Maybe the new ones are better, I don't know. TriPacs are definately the way to go. They instantly won my heart from day one when we got on this truck six months ago.

Amen! The digital controller was much better. This new system can turn off in the middle of the night and we wake up freezing and you actually have to wake up, open your eyes, get out of bed and reset the stupid thing. With the digital, we could just reach over and push the button if we were too hot or too cold and never really have our sleep disturbed.
This new one is much louder also, and cycles on and off every 15-20 seconds. I wouldn't want to park next to me. It's worse than the trucks that "spit" every 10 seconds all night long.true blue and TriPac Dude Thank this. -
Hey Green Eyed Lady, which APU are you refering to, exactly? Rigmaster, or what? I hope not my "beloved" TriPac!
-
Hi Tripac Dude. Sorry it took so long to respond, but I had to have time to research this. Turns out our APU heater is not only NOT a Tripac, but it's not even part of the APU!!
The APU is Tripac, but the heater is from Airtronic/Espar.
No wonder I wake up freezing.
Company installed this b/c it has a longer warranty than Tripac.
Uhh...maybe that's the first clue that it's not a worthy option!!
Enjoy, your Tripac. I'm soooo jealous.TriPac Dude Thanks this. -
Green-eyed Lady Thanks this.

Yeah, ours is an Espar, and it will undoubtedly cook you out of the truck if you let it. I am not sure of any other ones. We did have a Carrier on a truck once, does anyone know what type of heater and AC compressor it has? Personally I think TriPac is just a bit better.
