Anyone have any recommendations for what is going to be the most reliable/dependable with a decent price and good service network? I have been looking at the Kubota 2cylinder diesels APU's but I don't know if they are loud or unreliable I have heard that getting one with a serpentine belt or no belt at all is the best way to go but I am looking for one that is going to be as silent as possible and I do not want a battery based system I would much prefer a diesel powered one? Anyone know what Walmart uses on their trucks I know they are fairly silent at least?

Rigmaster are the best standalone apu. Cheaper than thermo king tripac. Cost approx. $8000.
-
I see a tri pak on the wal mart trucks

Smith Transport runs Rigmaster and GoGreen apu.

I have a Tri Pack and it's very quiet, it has a Yanmar Diesel which is very reliable. It cycles on and off , it just turned 7 thing runs great of course I maintain it and before the prescribed times for oil and filter changes.
TriPac Dude and fencitup Thank this. -
with rigmaster, i'm more familiar with the perkins engines. I would take it.

Go with TriPac for sure! I'm partial to them, but there are over 100,000 on the road and most of them are still running good. Also the quietest APU I've ever heard. About 50 decibels, compared to a RigMasters or Hp2000 69 or 70. That's almost enough to hurt your ears for those two. Go with TriPac- you won't regret it.

I think it's a no brainer who excels the market and for a reason. Tripac all the way. They are owned by Ingersol-Rand.
I've had one with 14,000 hours so dependability is definitely there. I seen one two days ago with 6000 hours for $2000. Or TK even has financing. The fuel savings will easily make the payment. I really can't understand why everyone doesn't have one. Of course it would cost a fortune to outfit a fleet but still it's not like someone would be out money. Pay for the extra fuel or pay for the APU.
It's a long term investment so get what you like. They have many accessory options depending on how and where you run. The new Tripac Evolution models are awesome.TriPac Dude, Criminey Jade and jbee Thank this.
