So I've been waiting on my authority for the past three weeks and it just posted that I have insurance. And trying to find intrastate ltl loads is next to impossible. Can you technically run on pending authority? Does it just come down to how the DOT revenue officer is feeling if/when they pull you around? Thanks

For real? You wouldn't have any authority. Running under inactive authority will net you some HUGE fines.

Make sure your looking under LTL loads, not Hotshot.

Ya I think I'm not looking in right right places. Only have been finding full loads. The reason I ask is because a insurance agency I was talking to told me you can run on pending authority. It didn't sound right to me so figured I'd ask you guys.

Your authority is either active or it isn't. Pending is not another word for 'active'. It will be an uphill battle for the first while, you don't need to be playing with fire on top of all the other stuff you have to keep your eyes on. Just chill until you are 100% good to go.

How long did it take you guys to get your authority after you filed?

Update: nvm how long it takes, my authority was activated right after I posted this. So do I just wait for my certificate before I do a load?

Last year I changed from sole prop to inc, my authority was suppose to fire up under inc and at midnight the next day shut down the sole prop. Same MC# same DOT# (had to get new CA#).
Only problem was it didn't happen that way! I found out the hard way, sat at the NM-TX border at Clovis for 3 days waiting for my inc authority to go live and got a fine for a few hundred bucks. It could of been a lot worse fines except the NM DOT cop went easy on me as he could see I had everything in order and the email conversations we had with the MC folks.

One of my buddies let me run under him with a temporary lease agreement for a few weeks.

My authority went active exactly seven days after my insurance posted. If you have everything else done, you should be good to go soon.
