Hey folks, i was wondering if anyone here has used there VOCREHAB through the VA to get started out as a hotshot driver. I know a few people that received 30k+ schooling to help start there own business and i was looking to see if anyone was successful and what they did.

My plan when i go in for the meeting is to have my laptop with a Powerpoint presentation with all the aspects pay expenses where you get work from etc with a mock up of a month of potential work off say load boards or what not. Anyway let me know if anyone can help.

Hi sir I can help a bit,
The 30K to start your biz was an enlistment option during the height of Iraq war so basically unless that was part of your contract I dont see it as an option.
Now for the VOCREHAB they will let you know what they will cover right up front it all is formulated from why you require the training and what type of disability you have and need to retrain for. So that being said they want to ensure that you can obtain employment straight out of school. I would focus my pitch on obtaining my CDL as I foresee it will be highly unlikely they will give you money for the truck or equipment they deal more with the educational funding.

Here is the link to help you get an Idea of what they will offer you. They look at what you did in service and try to convert that to work place skill sets.

Hope this helps you may already know most of this.

Thanks for your service never forget you are a hero!

armyguy thanks for the info, i have looked extensively at the website. I read also that they can provide 25k-100k for business funds start up. The 30k was for tools as he went to boat mechanic school and they gave him money to start his own repair service, he enlisted the same year as me 2003. I figure it would be hard to get money for a truck as they might thinkj it was for my own personal transportation i guess well have to see haha.

its not a loan its just money like your post 9-11 GI bill they paid for his school, and part of his business plan was the tools so AFTER he finishes school they gave him the money for tools. was not a requirement for school. I would appreciate someone who has done it to post, not some miss informed vet here do some research before trying to help someone. i dont need regurgitated VA.gov info if you think i didn't look there first don't post.

Roger that Im sorry for trying to help, you obviously have the answers already i revoke any information and you have allot to learn about communication cause you sure suck at it thank you and have a great day and you wont find people that tolerate that here good luck since im the only one responding and as far as i can tell your just looking for a free ride from the tax payer. Go work and save your money like everyone else does or get a loan. There are too many free bee programs out there creating havoc on the economy.
